Make sure to check the hose clamps after the first couple times. They usually need to be tightened up again. There are better gear clamps you can buy as well that get much tighter. Also, keep an eye on those pins going through the square tubing. I had one rip out. Ended up installing 2 bolts. I don't really ever remove the platform so wasn't really an issue for me but still wanted the option.

Thanks for the advice BC, I plan to replace all the hose clamps with T-Bolt clamps soon just so happens I have a few dozen in a bucket. I would like to replace the pins too with a key ring style but haven't gotten around to it yet. Just a quick question...was reading on the instructions no faster than surf speed for the first few hours? WHY??

Next step is to fabricate that surf flap I have been reading about. Duncan has an awesome write-up on it.

Thegerman618: I can only assume it has to do with the clamps not being that snug. I almost lost the whole thing the first couple times out. The one time it was hanging from the square tube mounts....probably didn't help I was going pretty fast and cranking on the steering wheel. I also have only a single exhaust so it twists a bit more than a dual exhaust one would. I never had any issues with my old boat and dual exhaust. Just pay attention to the sound when you are running. If you hear it get that nice throaty tournament boat sound you are used too then you have an issue. Otherwise you will only hear the hum of the engine. It really is a great product.

The other thing I'd recommend is putting a lock nut on the base of the quick release posts. I just installed mine a month and a half ago and after just getting back from my 2 week vacation I discovered one of the posts was missing the entire bolt assembly off the bottom. It was hanging by the pin off the swim deck square tube. It was an easy and cheap replacement but I changed the regular nuts to lock nuts to make sure the bolt doesn't fall out of the hole in the FAE.

IIRC, there are 2 of those nuts per side. Once the primary nut is on, then the 2nd goes on as a jam nut.

Thanks for the help, BoatWakes and I thread locked everything. I am a little nervous about it but I am think just cause its new. I am going to do the first few hours at 10-13 mph and pull it out of the water the first couple days and check everything. I did replace a few of the hose clamps with T-Clamps just to make sure I got it on there nice and tight.
