    Tige R20 - Surf

Hey peeps - can the R20 Surf at all? Looking to get rid of my 2015 Moomba Mondo and what/need a boat that can surf as job #1.

I do not want to spend $80, $90k+ on a boat nor will the wife allow it!!!

Get a R20 or RZR or should I just find something else?

    Help!!!

Yes it can surf! Here is a video of a 2012 that member alan kendall on here owns or Squidswake.com. He does have extra ballast added as he does a surf school but will show you what an R20 can do. Several others will chime in as their are several on here that own both. Have you considered the Z1? It might be at the top of your price range but an all great around boat.

Over on WW you said you were selling the Mondo after 3 weeks because it was to small. I'm confused as the R20 is even smaller? Your talking a 20' 6" with a 99" beam(Mondo) to a 20' with a 94" beam(R20/RZR). R20/ RZR is a small hull, even as 20 footers go.

To answer the question the R20 does surf will in its class. But so does the Mondo. Plus the Mondo has the advantage IMO with the auto flow. If your asking if the R20 can surf better having riden both boats I'd say no. They are pretty close IMO and I don't think one is more than brand preference better than the other. Very comparable boats.

Not selling after 3 weeks, have had the Mondo since last Dec. I have realized I am going to have to sacrifice one piece of the puzzle in order for this to work...so I was exploring the concept of a similar sized boat but if it is a slam dunk in a better surfer than I will get over it.

I've included some shots of surfing behind my R20.. I had the stock 900# system.. it can be done with just that setup but I'd recommend the 1600# surf setup.. some of these photos are after I added a w005 bag to the rear corners... the R20 now create a massive wave on regular or goofy, I do not have a convex vx and the only wash I get on mine is when the boat needs more weight on the surf side-aka someone needs to move to the Surfside to help with list or I dump some ballast on the non Surfside.

My neighbors surf a Mondo at our lake and the wake is just fine.....not sure this is much of an upgrade? Maybe I am wrong, but I see this from the same angle as boardman.

I considered both of these boats when we bought new this year. I found them to be very comparable as others mentioned. I liked the Mondo for being slightly bigger and for the layout of the dash, liked the R20 for the interior being a little better. The things that broke the tie for me were being able to add the VX to the R20 and the dealer is about an hour and a half closer.

mine with full tanks on one side and none in other tanks creates a 4-5/12 ft wave to surf. No extra ballast just what it came from factory with. Surfs awesome in my opinion. I've seen a couple guy get 10 ft back into my wave and not lose momentum and get it back with out falling off the back side of the wave. I love it for both surf and wakewoarding. Great little 20 ft and the price tag is not THAT scary...
