    Trailer running lights went out!

So last week I had the trailer running lights go out but the turn signals, brake lights and hazards all worked. I drove the trailer home using my hazard to keep visibility up since it was a 2 hour drive on unlit highways. After trying everything to clean and even looked at re-wiring I did a quick web search and decided to check the fuses on my truck turns out that it was a blown fuse that just needed to be replaced.

Thought I would post this to help anyone that may have the same issue in the future. Really easy fix, considering that I was going to go through all the trailer wiring tomorrow instead of getting on the water.

I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago. Just be aware that there's usually a reason that a fuse blows. I went through 3 fuses before I found a wire had rubbed through the insulation and was shorting to the trailer frame. Taped it up and haven't had any problems since. You might give your trailer wiring a quick look. Particularly look where the wires go through the frame a various locations. It might prevent another trip home in the dark. Good luck!

If you have a swing away tongue, fold it over and check there first for a pinched or chaffed wire. Most likely spot.

I would start hooking up to each trailer that you Tow. I had this happen before and assumed the problem was in the last trailer I towed...I was wrong. The next time I hooked up to a certain trailer I then did a walk around an found out IT blew the fuse. I may not be your boat trailer, but as mentioned- something caused it.

I have the extreme trailer and it turned out to be one of the lights at the front had been crushed and the wires were exposed. we had to go deep to launch at a different lake then normal and I am pretty sure that it was submerged. Replaced the fuse on my truck and havent had any issues since then.

This is was the exact problem that I had on my last trailer as well. Kept popping fuses after we loaded the trailer. I would just put a new one in before we went home but I was finally able to track down the problem spot.
