    Anyone with a an ASR

We are looking to go to a larger boat. Found a pretty good deal at our dealer 250 (miles away). Any real world experiences with it? We mostly surf but have a few wakeboarders too. Also we have a good mix of regular vs. goofy riders so how long does it take to switch and does the AVX make switching a little less of a pain, meaning do you still switch full from one side to the other? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, clay

If you want Surf mostly and lots of switching but are looking to spend the money on an ASR my advice would be to get your hands on an RZX with Taps 3 and that is going to be the absolute best boat for your needs IMO. It would be worth the wait.

Like it has been said, If you want to have professional level wake surf waves the AVX is the way to go if you are patient and dont need to switch instantly. If you want switch on the fly then Taps 3. But lots of complaints have surfaced about the ASR and the lack of a great goofy surf wave.

Thank you. I think that may be the reason for the good deal on the ASR. It's way lower than the RZX.we are not pros so the pro level wake is not needed. Switching is very important to us.

AVX does nothing with switching from side to side, it only changes the height and length of the wave. I would guess an ASR switches sides in 5-7 min as that's approx what my Z3 takes and the bags are similar. As stated if switching is that important look into the new Taps 3 RZX, as you fill everything once and that's it. The ASR will most likely need more then stock weight to make a good surf wave. Seek out member loudelectronics on here as he had a posting awhile back with weighting an ASR and his wave was very impressive.

There are options to make the ASR switch sides quicker as Ragboy with wake9 was switching side in just a couple of minutes on his last z3, but again nowhere near as fast as the Taps 3. If the deal is that good jump on it as the ASR is a great wakeboat.

It's going to take about 5-8 minutes to switch sides on the ASR. It's enough time to swap out riders and talk about how awesome of a boat you have with your crew. The ASR surf wave is going to be big, but won't have as much usable length to it as say the Z3 or the RZX. The wakeboard wake is the best out there IMO. You'll need a little extra weight in the nose to dial it in and keep it from porpoising when you increase the TAPS to about 4-5 to make the wake shape up real nice.

Our really good friends have an ASR and I have spent A LOT of time on it this summer. Wave is good when we have a small crew. Say 6 or less people. Wave is not so good when the boat gets loaded up with say 10 people. Just absolutely won't clean up. I think this is a big reason why they created the RZX.

Thank you. I've been talking to people and that seems to be the consensus. We will almost always have 6+'people in the boat. I'm going to keep looking around and take a look at the TAPS3 when they arrive here.

It seems that if the weight is in the correct position those ASR's will do a great surf wave. Obviously they were built to wakeboard so surf wave will be second nature.

Bruizza have you guys tried moving ppl around? I just can't get over that pic that loudelectronics posted a few weeks back of the ASR surf wave. Thing was killer.

No Starboard wake behind the ASR

I will say that we have been able to get a better wave out of it lately. Still haven't tried with a huge crew though. Maybe this weekend. My buddy was having some issues with his ballast bags that have now been fixed. Wave is a lot better now. I will report back after this weekend.
