I did some reading and found that is not exactly true. The mine has been spewing about 250 gallons per minute of the same toxic water for years, and that is what attracted their attention. Just recently, fish had returned to the upper portion of the river the mine drains into. To be fair, things were not all peachy until the EPA showed up.

It is very similar to some things in the medical field. I've heard people say things were just fine until they went to the hospital...

The EPA was snooping around because there was a problem, and had a colossal failure of judgement.
    Be excellent to one another.

Seems that when BP had their spill a few years back they paid dearly for the lost wages of fisherman and businesses on the coast. Wonder if the EPA or such will be held accountable in this situation? Seems like they are running under the radar with apologies and no sign of a solution or compensation. Won't be long and the law suits will hit them.

It looks like they aren't worried about it, at this point, about hurting Lake Mead.

Unfortunately, when someone successfully sues the government, We The People pay the bill. Not sure there is ANY personal accountability for government employees, especially at the federal level.
