Thanks Mike... I was leery of steel to the prop, so I didn't do that.

In my case, it was the combination of lots of previous hits, rotating the puller and finally a couple of swings with a 3lb hammer that did the trick.

New prop on and old one off to the repair shop!

The strut did take sustain a couple of nicks....

Incidentally, the old girl did a wonderful job of gifting a lot of fun during our week at Lake Wallenpaupack! Waterskiing, Wakeboarding, Kneeboarding and tubing till their arms were about to fall off. Mine are the 2 in the center of the first pict.

During the week, the lake was butter!.

I'll post more pictures and vids in the photo forum...

          Great looking kids.

There is nothing like a family vacation on the water with the kids. I enjoyed the heck out of those years even though I was always driving the boat. My daughters went on summer vacations with us until I landed up selling off my boat due to disability.

We had about 18 great summers on the water down on TRL or Bullshoals twice a season + weekends at parents summer place. I hope you have as many( or more) with your families. If things work out we will be ready for granddaughter and lake times again.

Yeah - life and work has been ridiculously busy, but we've used the boat a good amount. I did tun out of gas one day about 100ft from the gas dock and I think I got a fair amount of bottom the tank sludge into the fuel system. I have to pull the filter/water separator one of these days and change it out.

To the topic, I will say that heat is likely not necessary - especially given the risk to the strut bearing. I realize now it takes persistence.

I cant see that much heat going on to the hub of that prop that it would transfer into the shaft and up to the strut. im thinking 60 seconds or so around the hub just to get it to expand a little. propane is relatively cool in terms of torch gas.

Since the material you are heating absorbs and transfers heat rapidly I would still put a wet rag on the prop shaft to protect the strut bearings. Just my A little prevention can't hurt.

Good news on getting prop off
