    Prop

    Hi All,

I can't get my 14 z1 on plane when wakeboarding with the pro ballast full.

Please advise on the best prop / pitch whatever to help plane.

    Thanks!

What engine, elevation are you running at?

Are you are filling the entire 1200 lbs rear ballast of the pro system?

Indmor 350. Yes filling the whole ballast 2000 pounds total.

I called the dealer and they ordered one through Acme so hopefully that will solve the problem.

        Thanks

I'm not a wake board guy anymore, but I am pretty sure you don't want that much weight in the rear. I've heard full front and anywhere for 0-30% in the rear bags and then adjust as necessary to clean up the wake. I think you are running too much weight in the rear regardless of whether the motor/prop combo can push it all...

Agree with 007... way too much weight to get any sort of plane or let alone a good wakeboarding wake. you need front 100% full in the front and maybe even a couple of people up there, if i understand correctly that gives you 800 pounds ballast up front. With the proper ratio of weight for wakeboarding being about 60% of ballast weight in the front of the boat and 40% in the rear that gives you a 533 pound ballast amount for the rear. (total-not 533 each side... so you are looking for less than half in rear ballast and can level the boat using the rear ballast.) If you have a bunch of people with you that like to ride in the back just use enough ballast to get boat level, the people provide the weight.

This setup will allow you to use Taps to do the final customizing of the shape and you will get on plane much easier.

No prop is going to fix that, sorry to be so blunt. You need a better distribution of ballast. More like a 50/50. This means adding more bow weight, but in reality, I think you need to dump some rear.

Make sure you run TAPS1 until you get up to speed. I had a big oops the other day where the boat wouldn't get on plane and then I realized I was sitting at TAPS8.

I also agree though, that all that ballast may NEVER get on plane. That is pretty massive.

I wouldnt pay for the prop until you test this out for yourself... A dealer shouldnt have let you buy that prop without asking a few questions and trying to help you diagnose the true issue rather than just taking money for something that you truly dont need. (Not bashing your dealer at all, Im just saying that the ballast is the issue not the prop).

ACME 1235 is the prop you want. We have an RZ2 with the pro ballast and boat in Denver so at altitude. I personally just run 50% ballast in all tanks TAPS at 3-4 and the wake is money. We can fill all 2000lbs plane out so it is totally possible with all the ballast full. Problem is for us you have to run 25+mph to get a clean wake which is faster than we like to ride. So definitely change out your prop ESPECIALLY if you have the stock 537 that thing sucks for wakeboarding.

The 537 may suck at your altitude, at my altitude it worked perfectly for everything. Altitude has a lot to do with this subject and engine performance. The prop could be great for him if he is closer to sea-level than you are!

Disclaimer: I also have the 1235 but only because I dinged the 537 slightly so I had it repaired and is now a backup. I can plane out with ballast full and 14 people on-board, but it takes a little bit.

Standard answer: Call ACME and describe what you are doing. They will make a recommendation. Follow it. They are the experts, they know what they're talking about.

Yes should have put a disclaimer. At my altitude the 537 sucks for wakeboarding.

I have a Z3 with the 2300 lb pro ballast and I always fill it all and have no problem planing out using the acme 1235. If more people are on boat they do need to sit more forward of boat. Now I have the 2419 and it's on plane in half the time.
