I will have videos shortly, just dealing with the day job. ;-)

This is a TAPS3 boat, yes.

This is their flagship, no doubt. This hull design will filter its way down eventually, I know they spent a lot of time and money on R&D with this hull.

It certainly sounds like a fantastic surf boat - of course you pay for that! The more I read and see this boat certainly is starting to entice me more and more. My family is a mix of wakeboard and surf. Does anyone have any information on how this boat does for wakeboarding? Would love to get some input on that.

Okay Ragboy and all esteemed experts. Let me play devil's advocate on this subject for a bit.

We have read the teaser: the RZX defines a new echelon of surf boats. Details to follow. So with that in mind, consider these thoughts...

Many out there would consider the Centurion FS33 and/or FS44 the gold standard for surf boats. I received a demo with a new FS33 (too cold to surf), and watched it make a wake. It was pretty good it looked, but I would say not leaps and bounds above even what my slammed 24Ve makes. I know there are more to wakes than looks, obviously. Did I miss something?

I WAS impressed with quick fill ballast--40 seconds and the boat was leaning like a boss. Pretty damned cool. Not cool enough to loosen my death grip on enough money to go that route, however.

So, in Tige land where all things are Tige and all of us love Tige--what really is the gold standard? I realize that opinions are like bungholes--everyone has one. However, I think we all can agree that there are a certain few boats out there that honest to goodness do stand out. I would think a dialed Z3 (see Ragboys), the RZX (we are learning now), and possibly the Centurions....

What is the truth--objective truth--on the matter? Is it even possible to agree on a basic set of truths? Are there a couple boats out there that are truly a cut above? What is that short list?

The reason I ask, is that someday I will step up (maybe I guess, if it is truly worth it) from my 24Ve. Or....maybe a more interesting question...do I even need to? Let's pretend I am sorta rich, not filthy rich. Lets say I can spend 80K on a boat, but just cannot bring myself to spend 120K. So I will be a used boat hawk.

What is the target list? Imagine it is now year 2017....
        2015 FS33
        2015 Z3
        2015-16 MB B52
        2016 Supreme 238
        etc etc etc

All of these boats at one time have been the apple of my eye for the "next boat." I keep vacillating, but that is okay because I am not buying tomorrow, and I love looking at boats. So its all good! It just makes for interesting conversation, and lots of time to do legwork so that I can conduct a thorough hunt when the time is right.

I am out here, watching, reading, judging....LOL.

Sure, but did you lift the seats and open the locker to see what the cost of that 40 second ballast was? You stated that wave looked good but not as good as your 24Ve. So, is a 40 second ballast fill worth a good wave and no storage? thats one huge question that a perspective owner needs to answer.

Are there a couple boats out there that are truly a cut above? What is that short list?
Too many variables. Wave alone or all around boat as a whole? If I lived on a lake, then storage would not be an issue, but ride comfort would still be a concern. Since Tige now offers the TAPS-3 as well as the AVX, thats 2 categories.

Dakota, the question is probably worth a whole 'nuther thread. Unless we are ready to trash this thread now that the RZX is out. A 2016 RZX will not probably land in the 80K range in 2017, I think. To stick with the 'RZX rumor thread' topic, did anyone say what the actual sale price of one of these is likely to be with a typical set of options? Tough question, but I hope someone can give a rough estimate.

All of those boats on your list are great wakesurf boats as far as the wake. If it were me, it would be between the 238 and the Z3. The FS boats, especially the FS33, require a LOT of list to make that great wake. I have seen an FS33 running flat with like 5-6k of ballast and it looked like it was going to blow up. The FS33 lists so hard that when at rest you can see under the boat from the opposite side.

The 238 seems to need to be listed for the best wake also, but its a new boat and prob needs some time.

I would choose the Z3 with AVX, its a great boat, it truly is. I need some more time with the Z3 with the TAPS3 before I can really give a good review of that, but my initial impression is I would prefer the AVX with the Z3.

Once you start surfing with less list, you won't want to go back, IMHO. This year at our #prayforgodzilla event we didn't put people in groups that were only regular or goofy, we just threw riders together. Most boats were switching system boats, but the wake9 Z3 was not. It has the cross over pumps and switches in 3 mins. Its fast enough that when a rider is done you start switching and when the next rider says go, you are ready to go. RJ said it was easy and no problem, you just lose transfers.

I don't know if its important to you, but the Z3 with an Indmar 400 and the 15 inch prop, as I have shown, it gets about 3.5 GPH which is just ridiculous.

All of those boats are good wakes, it just depends what boat you like best.

Good point on the thread trash--I just let my fingers vomit all over the keys and forgot about etiquette. Sorry guys!

I appreciate the thoughtful points Ragboy--I thought that 238 looked like potential. Very B52-looking, too. And I have surfed with less list, on a fixed VX Z3. The 6 degrees was heavenly, and DEFINITELY NOTED by me. Especially when going to the bow to get a board and NOT having the windshield frame harpoon me in the back. My 16 degree list has had more than one concerned boater stop to save us from sinking. And I can't count the number of times I have almost slipped and fell on wet transom surfaces or sun pads. And I did fall once, all the way down. Not cool at 40!

To your Z3 point, 3 minute switching is nothing to me, really. By the time we shuffle boards, music, play rock paper scissors on who goes next...an alert driver could have 75% of the switch completed already. And I just don't see transfers being a large part of my life....but I guess seeing evidence to the contrary could sway that opinion.

I would also think (think 238 with QuickSurf) the ability to make a premium listed wave or a pretty good level wave would be handy, especially if you are surfing a bunch of kids or otherwise lightweights and want to dial it up a notch when your turn came and list it.

BUT, it appears that the RZX crosses that inflection point. And if they truly do tumble into the 80-range in a year or two, the choice may not be difficult after all.

DAMN I love boats. So at least I have that going for me. Thanks so much for indulging! BACK TO THE RZX SUBJECT MATTER. NO MORE RUMORS, GIVE US THE FACTS!

Just had one priced mind you that I added a triple axle trailer and the 575 SC but had the boat itself with basic options and I was quoted 146,000 you can save some money with just a double axle trailer and the 440 but I trailer so I thought the triple axle is needed

You could get one with a plain trailer and no options for around 120,000 according to the price sheet that I have.

Yes, but what are they actually SELLING for? Tige (and all Inboard Manf's it seems) are terrible for having the "list price" so much higher than where most dealers sell

My quote was for 146,000,it was after all the options close to 160,000 MRSP but all dealers have there own different % they use

I priced the RZX also, and i was qouted $135K nicely equipped, and a stripped down RZX would cost $125K.

                            I ended up with a 2016 Malibu 23LSV.

I don't see 80K used RZX boats for 3 years or more. These things are too much. I will have to scrub my boat list for the next boat. Shoot a brand new Supreme 238 can likely be bought for somewhere in the 70s!

I have a rental house I bought for $48K that rents for $750 a month LOL. Some things in life make no sense.
