    Game Changer

So, I am just going to say it because I think there are others that may be thinking it to:. The revised G23 took several cues from the ASR. The hull modification, the captain's chair, the surf remote all seem very similar to what is offered on the ASR. If I am not mistaken, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred.

I can see where you are coming from except the hull modification, have you seen the old G, new G and ASR next to each other to be able to tell the hull was changed to be more like the ASR? Just wondering if you are that well connected or if you might have some pictures of all 3? If so, please share, I'd love to see what's going on with the new hull for the G.

^^^^ X2 on what he said. It seems they needed something to drag their customers along and have a "suspense release date." I have always liked the G and think they are an amazing boat, but that new front end is ridiculous!! Looks like a snow plow on a state truck! Maybe they can use it in the ocean to break ice haha.
Would love to know how much they go up in price for all their "game changer" additions?

At least the new 16 Z3 went down in price and has some incredible "game changer" additions

So I can take pics of my ASR this weekend, but what stands out is the very pronounced keel. They posted the pics of the bow of the old and new G on the Nautique website. The overall running surface on the ASR is more blended than the old G in that the ASR has a smoother bottom than the G which is partitioned in various squared off planes - kind of like the older stealth fighter jets. However, the more pronounced keel on the new G is definitely similar to the ASR.

Found one. Kind of hard to tell because it's black, but hopefully you get the idea.

I watched Nautique's "Game Changing" public event last Friday. More entertaining were the online comments on the PlanetNautique forums. The one that I thought best summed up the ratio of Hype-to-Reality was the Nautique owner who wrote "game changing disappointment". With all the buildup and suspense, you'd have thought they had the first electrically rechargable wakeboat behind that curtain.

Ok, so you're just going off the pictures from the reveal about the sharper entry/keel just under the bow at water entry. I've only seen an ASR in person twice but I think I see what you're getting at. I read your first post to mean you've seen them both in person and maybe have seen the wakes and had a chance to compare and contrast the two.

I'm not a fan of the new fancy seats in either boat. I haven't been on the water with them but I've been on the water with similar seats and I still like my vision-aire seat the best for hot days with wet board shorts.

The rest of the tweaks seem like a mid model run update than a complete re design but I haven't seen the new G in person to make that final determination. I liked the old G, I like the ASR, and I'll have to wait to see it in person before I pass judgement on the new G. I have a feeling I'll be impressed.

My point is that Tige creates some very innovative products and doesn't get the respect that it deserves. It took them 7 years to develop the original G Series and Tige only spent 2 on the ASR. Now they have taken a G series boat and copied a lot of the things that make the ASR work so well. I will be very interested to compare the wake on the new G versus the ASR. Both will are massive, but its the shape that has my interest. The ASR has a very powerful lip where the old G lacked a bit in that department. It will be interesting to see if this "redesign" fixed that.

I was out at the Natique launch event on Saturday with a buddy who is a huge Natique fan. Had a chance to get behind the new 2016 G21 for a bit. Wave was great. Here is a clip of the wave.

Had a ton of push and on this really long hyperlite board I had never ridden I was having trouble keeping it off the back of the boat even with a ton of weight on my back foot. The side switching which we all know Tige has was impressive. Wave cleaned up in a couple seconds from side to side. However from the videos I've seen, Tige's solution is much faster at cleaning up the wave when switching sides.

As far as "The Game Changer", Sorry, Tige beat them to the punch. Fact is everyone will have side to side remote switching by next year. Great feature but its not the one feature that would get me to spend a 130k on a boat.

it has a one button side switch remote as well as the option of a smart watch that allows you to adjust everything on the fly. However trying to see a tiny screen and make adjustments with tiny buttons with the sun shining down on you while riding seems to be a bit much.

The main reason for the changes to the front of the G hull was to divert water. The "original" G boats have a fairly wet ride, especially at Surf speeds if there is a cross wind. The water just comes straight up on the sides and the wind blows the spray over. The new hull is supposed to channel it down.

From what I understand, the hull changes are only to the G23 & G25 at this time. The 2016 G21 hull is remaining the same - I would guess a 2017 change on the G21.

I know that the G took a long time to develop and with no disrespect to the Tige team, things are easier to develop when there is an example already set. If it took Tige 2 years, that means they started development after the G was released and it is no secret that the ASR hull is very similar to that of the G boats, again it is easy to develop something that is similar if not copied which already exists in the market. That said, Tige really did implement some unique and nice features in the deck of the ASR.

The release of the #gamechanger was defiantly a let down, I believe not only for Nautique fans, but the industry as a whole. The only thing I liked was the new interface. They switched to a touch screen - which I don't believe belongs in boats - but then added an "Infiniti" Auto Style control, so you do not need to use the Touch. This style control is very intuitive in auto and should be as well in marine. I do believe this style control has been used in some of the larger cruisers for a while. Aside from that, I don't think there was anything that would cause current G owners to jump into a 2016 in a hurry.

Tige does alot of innovation that they may not get proper recognition for and may very well have the best surf wave producing boats out there. I believe that if Tige would just step up there marketing a little, quality control/consistence quite a bit and spend the time to build relationships with dealerships that will back their product with service, they would quickly get the recognition they deserve. I would say that MB is a great example - we don't have them in our area - but in the past few years their reputation has grown significantly and it seems that Supreme is working in the same direction.

The smaller G21 was one of the wettest rides I've ever had on a boat. I felt like I was on splash mountain the whole time. Spray was almost constantly coming over the bow all the way to the back of the boat. My RZ2 rarely sprays the entire boat.

I agree to a point, but I am really interested to see if the wakeboard wake changed as a result of the hull revamp.

I will say that the running surface on the ASR looks more like an RZ series that it does a G23. I'll concede that the hull above the water was likely inspired by the G series. Nautique proved that you could have a big ugly tall boat and still sell it. So yeah Tige may have taken cues and put all the ballast under the floor and decided to keep your knees out of your chest so they went taller. Quite frankly I am shocked that MC and Bu haven't built similar boats.

At this point in the industry it appears we may have to choose between appearance and function. Do you want a boat with beautiful lines, or do you want awesome performance? Can you stand being laughed and pointed at on the lake, so that people will stand slack-jawed when you fire up the surf wave?

I can imagine a "boat model selector" slider on each brand's build-a-boat site. One end will read "Attractive" and the other will say "Functional". As you slide across it will put up a thumbnail of the appropriate model for that place on the spectrum, and you can push the slider toward "Functional" until you can't stand the uglyness anymore.
