    2000 21v project! worth it?

    hi guys,
I'm new to this forum and to boating. with that out of the way, here is what i got myself into. i bought a 2000 tigé 21v, my purchase was based on price and the fact that i wanted the seating arrangement it offered, didn't know much about anything else.
im an auto mechanic by trade, so i know which end of the wrench to hold!
here is the list of what I started with:
    photo 11.jpgiphone5 pictures 1069.jpg
well that doesn't seem to be working so here goes a list,
bought a core engine and rebuilt the block and heads
-used the intake manifold of the original engine which was seized(salt water really did a number on the engine cooling jackets that or lack of maintenance!
-the core engine came with exhaust manifolds and half closed cooling system(bonus) at $600 CDN i thought that was a good deal
-bench tested the starter, fuel pump, cleaned out all the coolers and lines( luckily they were all good)
-replaced steering cable and brackets(i don't see how its feasible to do when the engine is in.
the core engine was carbureted, i reused the MPI manifold and throttle body after a good thorough cleaning, i replaced the seals input and output shaft seals on the transmission and V-drive, once all the engine and components were checked and cleaned, i dropped it back into the boat, now for the harness(corroded) in some not water proof connections,
-verified signal power and ground to all my gauges
-cleaned up the wiring under the helm, i need an rpm gauge and a depth finder, anyone?
this is what the boat looks like now.

i still to put it in the water, do you guys have any tips, things i should look for?

Awesome work! Love it! You may want to replace that Metcraft tower as it is known to fail. Are you looking to surf? wakeboard? The 21v does both well and yours looks like its going to be exceptional.
    Cheers!

Check drive shaft alignment or you will eat seals and Bering's. The engine will adjust up down left and right to align it.

thanks SurIdaho, i am hoping to do both wake and surf, need to get the gear. replacing the tower is on my to do list, i like the Alpha Z tower but i haven't done any research on towers yet as i have concentrated on all the other things pending to get the boat completed. what do you recommend?
good thing is my girlfriend is on board with getting a new tower, might do it this winter

          Kodiak,
i learnt the hard way regarding the alignment of the mounts as i used the mounts from the donor engine i adjusted the V-drive angle to match the prop shaft collar and the output shaft flange, ill have to do some adjusting once i have the boat in the water, I'm sure it will have some vibration from misalignment. i couldn't find any info on what angle the prop shaft should be at. do you know where i might be able to find that info?

            hi guys,
to answer my own question: yes this project was totally worth it, the time spent and hassle getting parts became forgotten yesterday when I took the boat out for the first time since I bought it!
I went to a small man made lake near Calgary, it was the closes lake if anything went wrong with it. I left the interior and carpet out cause I wasn't sure how things would go. from the smile on my face you can tell things went better than expected....I have fallen in love with this boat, I'm sure there are better, newer, faster ones out there but I know mine inside and out, the knowledge and experience are priceless, plus its custom paint and interior picked by my supportive girlfriend and myself.
places like this forum where everyone is willing to help and post their findings made it easier to overcome some obstacles thanks a million guys!!!

Awesome Job Ronny, that paint scheme is awesome. Agreed on the tower, my buddy has the same boat and tower and we have put some re-engineering on that tower to keep it alive. Looking forward to some surfing pictures!!!!!
My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"

I'm really curious on how the automotive paint has held up over the years. I love the interior color combination!
                        Oh Yeah!
