Ski shack at Indian point will likely be your best bet. I have never been to that location since I am a few coves from their Kimberling City location. The one I visit is very nice and lots of selections. Give them a call 417-338-8481. Rock lane resort has some and Big cedar lodge too.

There is also another slalom course kept by the great resort owners at Hideaway Resort (awesome place if you're looking for a quiet resort on a calm part of the lake) just past hideaway marina next to the island a little past point 11 ( Mile past kanakuk camp on the way toward cape fair). Even if you don't run the course anymore, watching the owner's son, Christian, shred the course at 28 off each morning is worth heading over there.

Video of cliff jumping at the rope swing close to point 10. Dangerous straight up climb but incredible view....

If your staying close to state park marina, I'd check there first for rental boards.. I haven't been in there in a few years, but they hand out boat keys to any fool with a credit card, regardless of whether or not they can drive it... (Give those state park boats a wide berth) Anyways, they've got a pretty well stocked store there and rent all kinds of tubes and stuff. I imagine they have added wake and surf boards to that list.
If I was you and staying that close to state park, I'd concentrate all my time south of that Marina (towards Arkansas and away from the dam) You can find anything your gonna need that way, be it gas, or floating food and beer, or calm coves, or bluffs to jump from. If you try to venture towards Indian point and kimberling from where your starting, your gonna be commuting across the biggest, roughest part of he lake... Granted, it's nowhere near as rough as bigger lakes such as LOTO or grand in OK.. But why waste gas when you don't need to.. Head south from state park and once your under the hwy 86 bridge, it will be noticably calmer waters.. Keep south around the corner at the bass pro Marina and the water will only get better the farther you go.. Yet still only 10 min +/- from state park ramp..

At the Marina by the Kimberling City bridge they used to rent boards and skis at the Ski shop there. It may be haul from where your staying but it is was a pretty decent ski shop. Only Caveat is I haven't been there in a while. It was called Skiers Wharf but all links to it appear to be dead.

Skiers wharf closed sometime ago. Bruce sold and retired and building actually burned down. Ski Shack is now there with a bigger and better shop. They also have one at Indian Point which is closer to state park marina. Haven't been there before so not sure how it compares Kimberling location.

I thought Williams Ski and Sport was at Kimberling City now after the Ski Shack's dock/shop burnt down two years ago?

Yes sorry you are correct. [emoji15][emoji379]. Ski shack is Indian point, Baxter, cape fair and Springfield. They have a cable park in Springfield.

Important ones: flag up only when person is in water not when moving. Mo has no open container so you can drink while driving boat ( or vehicle) just can't be drunk (.08). Must have boater lisvense if born before 1/1/1984. Must have mirror if towing awhen only one ( driver) in boat. Navigating lights after dark at all times even parked. Must be 14 or older to operate boat with license UNLESS accompanied by an adult. My daughter (14) is out primary driver. Have a throw cushion in boat. There is some more but that's the main

Me thinks a typo regarding licensee and age. I think it should read boating licensee required if born on or after 1/1/1984. Throw cushions don't qualify as life preserver. I think when parked at night an anchor light must be visible but red and green running lights not needed. Ski Flag down when boat is moving with skier/surfer/ wake boarder etc. Only up when boat stopped and people in water. There is a speed limit after dusk and a no watersports clause exists. I think speed limit is 25mph or thereabouts and was enforced in main lake in Mo. No riding on gunwales or sundeck/swimdeck has been enforced.(Ticketed twice over the years when fishing of all things!)

Just looked at the book... throw cushions are type 4 pfd and must be present in the boat.. Fire extinquiser is a must also. Nav and anchor lights while underway, anchor only while not powered. Night speed is 30mph.. Here's a little kicker that I just read and never caught before regarding pfd while skiing, boarding, etc... I'm gonna copy and paste from the book now...

"In addition, it is strongly recommended that all persons being towed behind a motorboat or PWC on water skis or any other device wear a U.S. Coast Guard–approved PFD. Ski belts are not U.S. Coast Guard–approved."

Does this mean you not required by law to wear a life jacket? Only suggested to? I read through the whole book and also checked the pfd referenced sections in the index to make sure I didn't miss anything.. Nowhere does it say it is the law to wear a life jacket while being towed... Am I reading something wrong?
