    Finally: Alpha Z Tower Mirror

This is great news, except for the price. I'm not sure if it is old news or breaking news, but here is a link to a pretty sweet looking tower mirror for the Alpha Z. I'm shocked I haven't seen one come out yet.

The 3rd photo is stamped with a 4-25-2012 date if that is accurate.

Cool but $$$$ as already noted.

Samson makes them. Been out for a few years. Haven't seen one in person, likely due to the ridiculous price imo. I would think at $400 they'd sell pretty well.

They don't have much adjustability and the mirror is just ok for visibility. Much better going with PTM Edge but about same price.

I always find it funny guys will pay 60 grand+ for a boat but balk at $500 for a mirror.

I love my window mount PTM! It is big enough to see everything behind boat but small enough to see around. Easy to flip down when not is use. It looks like that alpha mount would be a pita to put down when folding the tower. Just one more thing to remove when folding tower IMO.

The Samson mount has a quick release to remove the arm so it's fast and easy.

There was talk in previous threads about a distinct obstruction in visibility due to the Rev speakers. I would really like to see a picture from the driver's perspective to see just how much the rear view is/isn't obstructed. There must be a few of these out there ...

Thanks for info. Didn't know they had a quick release. That would definitely make them more appealing to me if I were on the market. For $500 it should!!

Those have been available for quite a while. Again, the price though. I do miss having a floating mirror like I had on my previous boat as I find the windshield mounted can get in the way but I have learned to deal with it.

My biggest problem with a mirror mount is that I have been tearing a hole in my cover with the base. The tower mount would be sweet, and I love how it would float so as not to obstruct your view when the seat cushion is pulled up. I'm not a fan of the price, either but I also understand it. There can't be a huge market for it, and perhaps eventually it will come down a little or maybe reflect the illusion tower mirror price. The reason we balk at the price while paying over 60K for a boat is that even though we are willing to spend, we still like our money and don't like to waste it.

Are you towing with your windshield mount attached? If so I can see tearing a hole in your cover. I have the PTM edge XZR-200 mount and can take it off in less than 60 seconds. I took it off when towing to camping destination and left it on for the duration putting my cover on every night. As JLG said it is easy and takes 3 seconds to fold it down allowing you to tow or put the cover on while stationary. There is not a mirror out there that gives a better field of view and I have had quite a few over the years.

BTW, I sold my RZ and will be selling my VR-140 with mount and will post a thread in the classifieds in a week or two for anyone interested. It has one season on it and is like new.

I like it. The quick release is awesome. 10 seconds and your done. No scratching up the windshield frame either. The mirror itself desnt really adjust. I find myself moving around in the seat a lot trying to keep an eye on the person in the water. Very well made IMO

Yeah, it is a total pain to take on and off, and the one that came stock with the boat is useless. I just bought a CIPA, and at the time I thought it wasn't worth the pain of taking the mount on and off....until I wore a hole in my cover. You mirror sounds intriguing.
