Well it seems like everyone has a new surf mod or gimmick coming out. I had an idea and I thought I would share it.
What I like about Tige is that they aren't contravening the basic design of a boat hull to create a wave. They are working with the water and not against it. It is for that reason that I like the AVX, even if it doesn't have the immediate switch capability that no one uses after a month.
So my idea basically goes along with that. I think we can all agree that a listed boat is uncomfortable. That is the primary issue with listing. I find once the the boat is moving no one notices the list (and most people are seated). When the boat stops and people start moving around, that is where the list is annoying. So the goal is to create list while moving, but not while stationary.
So I got to thinking - how does an airplane do it? Well the wings are flat, but to create a roll they use ailerons (deflection of the trailing edge of the wing). Some aircraft use something called a canard.
So I got to thinking, what if there was a canard of sorts mounted to either side of the AVX. It could adjust in real-time and sink either the left side or the right side. It wouldn't work against the water, but rather would just deflect it slightly to get that 7 to 9 degree list. The AVX could still do its thing.
This way the boat could be weighted evenly and on both sides, with the list coming through an automated and continual adjustment of the canard.
Thoughts?
