    Tower and Ballast help??

I just bought a 1997 Tige 2150wt, don't actually have it yet. It doesn't have a tower, ballast system or bimini yet. So I have three questions:
    1. what tower would look the nicest? Im considering either a monster or a titan.

    2. This boat has TAPS on it. Do I need ballast in addition to this, or is the wake big enough for wakeboarding/surfing with it?

    3. where should I look for a bimini?

    Thanks!

I'm picking up a 97 2002 hopefully on Wednesday. I'm right there with ya, although I have a fat sack/pump and extended pylon. How much did you end up giving for that and how many hours are on it?

Your going to need ballast. The taps system is for fine tuning the wake. Get your bimini top with the tower you purchase.

Good Luck and welcome to the club.

16k with 250 hours. I'm so excited to go get it, I can hardly stand it.

Glad to be "in the club" :-)

I have the same boat. Congratulations! What motor does it have? That seems like a really good price.

I have a phat budde tower on mine. It is very prevalent in So. Cal. I hear a lot of good things about the monster tower from others on this site. Another tower I hear good things about is Samson Towers. Get the bimini with the tower like shane said.

Its got the 290hp 350 in it. Its got 40hp more than my old boat, and its lighter too. I had an 84 supra that I just got rid of.

I can't wait to go get it. TeamAllen, I saw yours in your profile, nice lookin boat. How much ballast do you run for wakeboarding etc?

You should have the TBI Throttle Body Fuel Injection if it is 290 HP.

I don't use any ballast. We primarily ski. The TAPS, human ballast and cooler are enough ballast for our boarding abilities.

For surfing behind the boat there is no doubt you will need ballast. We just surf in the ocean. Check out the DIY TallTigeGuy did in his boat with a Rival Ballast Sysyem.

sweet. That may be on my christmas list. I put a custom DYI system in my old boat, that went fairly well, but was using a single 1200gph pump to fill a 750lb sac. Took forever (ok, like 10 mins) but thats a long time sitting and waiting. Otherwise it looked pretty similar to the rival system.

Thanks for the info, I'll post pics when I get the boat home.

                    Samson Sports and Rival Ballast.
The tower is solid and has a bimini. You can add speakers, lights and swivel racks for boards and surfboards. Rival just makes ir easy to add weight and it out of the way. Have fun!!

I would go Monster Tower, plus they offer a bimini at a reasonable price. I had put a monster on my old boat and when I got my new Tige I deleted the Phat Buddee (2005 Tige towers were not out at that time) and had a monster put on instead! You can probably get the monster with board racks and bimini for what the Phat Buddee would cost.

As for balast, Rival makes a superb kit. I basically copied their kit in my own DIY mentality, and when it was all said and done I should have just ordered their kit, I did not save any $ and had to do a lot of figuring out on my own.

                        Good luck with the boat!

All the towers mentioned are nice, but this is what I ride with: http://13thfloortowers.com/
                          Good luck.

Well, I made the mistake of letting my wife look at the choices...now I don't have a choice anymore :-( But its all good. I'm gonna go with the Monster Tower, racks, mirror and bimini. Should be pretty sweet.

Monster Tower. All the way, and yeah you can order your bimini with it- designed specifically for your boat. Shoot a message to monster Bill at www.monstertower.com.
