Anyone have an ASR? I'm having a hard time finding anything about them on this forum.

Used factory ballast but had to use a 400 in the nose or everyone sitting mid ship and nose. With sac up front people could sit where they wish. I think it was surf side rear 75%, opposite 25-50% nose 100% plus 400. Only 3 people in the boat. Been a long time so I may be off a bit.

I have yet to be in a boat that did not need extra ballast somewhere.

I have a 2014 model ASR and have about 120 hours on it. I'll start by re-iterating that we wakeboard 95% of the time and surf maybe 1%. The wakeboard wake is phenomenal. I can dial it down for my five year old and ride clean at 18, make the wake manageable for my wife at 20 mph, ramp it up for my 8 year old at 21, and get down right ignorant for me and my friends at 22.5 - 23.5. The difference between this and other pricey boats - hang time. Where you used to throw 180s, now your throwing 360s, where you were slapping a quick indy grab now you are boning out tail grabs where you feel like in the air for an hour. The only boat that can even come close to matching it is the G.

The surf wave is ok. You need an extra 400 on the starboard to get it to form up. Less is more with the surf wave - the harder you list, the steeper it gets and it gets steep really fast.

The boat is big. Really big. And everyone will tell you that your boat is really big. There is more storage in this boat than the G. You will sit deeper in this boat than the G. This gunnels on this boat are higher out of the water than the G. We have been through some nasty waves and it blows right through them when the ballast is about half full.

The interior is beautiful. There are not as many billets as the Z series boats, but the Apex layout is top of the line, if you ask me. I love the wetsounds 808s, I love how the 10" FA sub fires into the interior (it will shake your teeth because its right under the captains chair). And the Z-cline chair, wow there is just not enough to say about this. We fight over who gets to drive because it is just that nice. G has Polk and a seat for the driver to sit on.

Now we did have to do a few modifications from the factory. We added lead up front and changed the prop. The lead is because we board on a shallow river 5 - 12 feet deep and have issues with the waves bouncing off the bottom. The prop from the factory is a 1235 (14.5") and it is just not enough to push that big of a boat. We didn't change pitch, just went up to a 15" prop.

The second best thing about owning an ASR? Free maintenance and a bow to stern warranty for three years. So for three years all you pay for is gas.

So, I am extremely happy with this purchase. Is it worth the money? To me it is. We are generally rolling with four to six adults and 5 - 9 kids. The kids play up front and everyone is comfortable. The wake is amazing, the boat is beautiful, and the price is on point for what you get these days.

Thank for taking the time to break it all down for me! really appreciate it
