    Samson Wakesurf Racks

I've got the spinning Samson racks for the Alpha Z tower, and I have wake/wake on one side and wake/surf on the other. Guess which boards don't make the trip out anymore?....You guessed it the wakeboards. I'd like to at least swap out the wake/wake for a surf/surf. Has anyone just ordered the forks from Samson and know how much they run? Or is there anyone on here wanting to swap out?

I have been PATIENTLY waiting and calling Samson every month to find out when the clamping racks are coming out but I get the same story everytime..."still being developed/tested and should be out soon....no pricing available yet...no release date available...sorry". I really want the clamping racks as the bungees tend to put too much strain on the higher end boards. Samson would make a killing if they released the clamping racks.

Call Melody from Samson at 360-833-2507. Surf forks are 2 3/8" wide. I forget what the cost quote was but it was not outlandish. Or support@samson.com

they told me if the rack is not too old or beat up they have a trade in policy too, the kids kneeboard 2 at a time, those boards are a pita to store, ie, no where to store except in the front hallway, so that's why I contacted them I have the wake surf on both sides.

How wide are the knee board openings? You could add a section of noodle phone to slim down for a surfboard (and add extra cushion).

I run surf/surf and slip a 1' section of pool noodle over the forks for skim boards or wakeboards also.

I called Samson again and of course there is no news on the clamping board racks yet unfortunately. I did get pricing on replacing my wake-wake forks with surf-surf forks and the cost is $280. They will take the old ones and give a little credit back ($20 or so - wish it was more). While I was on the phone, I was searching their website and found these pictures which appear to be Samson racks from the shape of the fork supports (same as Typhoon racks) and they have the clamps on them. Maybe these are the much anticipated racks...

A quick update, I just got off the phone with Melody @ Samson and the clamping board rack project has been "put on the back burner (hold)" for the time being. This is very disappointing indeed as we all have been wanting a cheaper alternative to the PTM stock clamping racks. Any other thoughts on this other than buying the PCM racks?

For those of you who have the Surf/Surf racks from Samson, are the standard bungee lengths adequate for your boards? I found that my Wake/Surf rack that I use for a single surf board is too tight on the board and can cause some damage if not too careful.

I have the Samson surf/surf racks (purchased last year), and I find that the bungees are a bit too long in fact. I have resorted to tying a knot into each one to take up some of the length. This allows me to put just enough tension on the boards.

Thanks for the info, better long than short for me. Right now I have added bungees to the ends to lengthen what I have. When my racks were made/installed wakeboarding was still the prime water sport so they seem perfect for those.

Does anyone have the wake/surf/wake forks on their Samson rack? I'm wondering if the wake/surf/wake combo would be too much of a monstrosity when full of boards. Would it still rotate fully without impacting the bimini? If you have a wide surfboard, does the bungee still hold the wakeboards tightly?

I had the wake/surf/wake rack on my old RZR as well and no problems.

I have Samson racks on my Z3 as well and they have been great.

Thanks guys, good to hear. Any chance you'd have a pic of them when full with boards?
