friend looking for $20k surf boat - suggestions?

Any suggestions for a friend of mine looking for a $20k surf boat? I am more familiar with the $40k+ 2007+ boats.

    Any help is much appreciated!

I am not sure how accurate the specs are on the website but the 2002 21v and 23v are 102" beams and from pictures look really nice. Surf dad (James walkers dad). Has some good pics of their old 23v on here if you look for it. I started with a 20-25k budget. I am not sure if the ones older than 2002 are much different the specs on here say the beam is 100" in earlier years which makes me wonder if it's different.

I found a handful of 22v's under 25k (maybe 23k?) but they sold fast. That was a couple years ago and most were 2003 22v's (pre composite) If they can stretch the budget, I would really try to get a 22v because it's got an excellent wave. They will likely have to budget in ballast too so that might be out of their range. The 22v has Huge lockers, easy to weight, and topaz surfers wave at polar bear was as good as many brand new boats. Imho, I also think the 22v will really hold its value well. It's the deepest with most freeboard of any brand of that era ands Td known for its top notch surf wake.

Any 22v under 25k will be rough and will sell fast. A clean one is likely 28-32k but that's just a guess from my experience buying a couple years ago.

I think the centurion Avalanche might also be a good choice. Duffy had one that from the pictures is one pretty wave. I saw a few available at that price point. Some don't have the wrap around seating and have a walk thru which is a huge negative but it's reflected in the price usually. I have never ride an act but ragboy and several other surf nuts pointed me that direction too. It has a little less freeboard so it won't take weight as well as the 22v and 24v (not sure how the older 23v or 21v compare).

The last one I have heard is good but I haven't been on is some of the sanger's. They put out a nice wave but I was directed away from them because of low freeboard and I have small kids so surfing with the sanger's low freeboard can get sketchy.

2100v, 2300v, 21v, 23v all throw nice waves and should come close to that budget. Centurions will make nice waves too but will likely cost a little more. The 22v makes a really nice wave as well but will likely blow the budget esp at this time of year. I surf on my buddies Sanger 210 all the time and it makes a nice wave though the freeboard could be an issue if you were on a choppy, busy lake. Stingreye makes a good point.. All of these boats will require an investment in ballast and most likely cruise control. Not the best wave on the lake but I am pretty stoked on my 2300v wave for the price. Cheers!

I have surfed all those boats, Sanger, Tige, and a previous Centurion owner. I would look away from Sanger personally for a few reasons, other than the freeboard the stringers had some issues in early models not getting any type of sealant on them and rotting away after a few years. (I was told this by a Sanger dealer here in Cali. when I almost bought one before my Centurion.) Centurions are great boats, especially the Avy, and Enzo's models. Although since the Enzo has been the go to surf boat for the worlds surf comp. for the past few years their prices have gone crazy (even used). I have seen and heard but not surfed, Moomba, MB, Malibu, Supra, Calabria, and EPIC have great waves, and should be able to find one in the price range.
My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"

I bought a 04 22v out of texas for 21500 with 600 hours on it and loved it till i moved up to a rz4. I made money on the boat as well. I woul dtell them to look for a 22v or 24v those will make a good wave.

2100V Linited, I have 2001. I run about 1800 lbs ballast have monster tower with hard top carrier and new sound system. Spent a lot of time cleaning and have just under $25,000 in it. GREAT BOAT!! I enjoy this one more than any boat I've had previously with payments.she has about 500hrs on her. Was a skiers boat previously well taken care of.
2001 21V limited, Monster Tower with carrier bimini, 1600 lbs of balast.

I traded a 2001 2300v limited in to Eagle Marine in Ft worth when I got my '15 rz4 not sure what they want for it but should be in that range and is a great boat.
