Wakeboard settings 2015 RZ2, frustrated, embarrassed

How much weight are you guys running, speed, and taps position for wakeboarding on an RZ2?

I have the 2015 RZ2 with Surf XL ballast. 900 both sides in rear and 400 each side in front.

We filled it full like we do on my buddies wakesetter, and the wave was awfull. Speed adjustments from 21 mph to 24.5 mph and messing with taps didn't help at all.

We then drained to 50% of sacs in the rear, still full up front, taps at 8, messed around with speed anywhere from 21.5 and 24.5. It started to get better, but the wake still washed out.

Then we did no bow weight, 50% in rear, taps at 8, going 22.5, it was cleaner, but then we were getting bow hop.

I dunno what to do. Never had this many problems dialing in a wakeboard wake. I'm use to riding behind my friends G21 and other friends wakesetter, and I'm like seriously embarrassed of my wakeboard wake and don't know what to do... Surf wave is great though!

We haven't tried wake boarding yet with our new z3 maybe this weekend.

I would try dialing in empty first and then start adding ballast, thinking tige boats don't need as much weight.
    It's a thought.

even on our RZ4 fully loaded, to get a super clean wake we had to pull around 25-26 fully loaded fyi. I personally dont ride that fast or load that much because I am not going that big when I ride. But we towed some semi-pro's in our area, and to get it like they like, it was that fast fully weighted. we normally ride 23.5 and the wake is way clean with taps at 4, front 75% and back at 50%. we also carry 300 lbs of pop products too though so go figure.

Too much rear ballast. Fill the rear ballast to about 25% and 100% bow. I would shoot for about 60% front/40% rear.

Agree with Mike, mine likes the front weight a lot. Get the front loaded as much as possible then you can adjust the back with Taps until you find the rear ballast sweet spot. Speed to get your biggest best wave will be in the 24-26 range probably. (Depending on rope length). Start playing with Taps every range possible, we typically get Taps around 2-4 depending on people and weight in the boat!

Full bow weight less rear weight 25% maybe. Keeps the taps between 2 or 4. People tend to under estimate what the taps can do to the wake. It makes a big change. If your a beginner and don't need all the ballast taps is great and can run it at the higher numbers. But when you start running rear weight and people in the boat with taps that high it will get really peaky and wash out eventually. Run less taps and a little less rear weight.

With that much weight I'm surprised you got on plane with taps at 8. Like he others said, start with full bow weight, 50% rear and taps at 0-1. When your up on plane slowly bump up taps to a setting you will like. If you run more weight you're going out need less taps. Remember the full side surf xl ballast is only supposed to be full on one side at a time, it's way too much weight unless you add an extra big sac in the bow.

2015 has auto taps. Starts at 1 then automatically adjust to your taps setting when you hit plane. With the new raptor motors too, and me being at sea level, no issues getting on plane fully weighted at all.

Ya I figured with the 15 you wouldn't have trouble getting on plane. I had a 15 Z3 out with Surf XL ballast fully loaded went on plane no problem. But you still need to bring the taps down to 1 and see what happens. it should be clean.

I usually run front ballast full. Then fill rear ballast until the under floor hard tanks are full and above floor bags are bulging in their velcro held flaps. I set taps at 3 and speed set at 23 mph for a 75' rope and 24 mph on a 80' rope. If someone else is using a 60' rope 22 mph and a 65' go 22.5. I never set taps above 4 as it makes the wake roll over easily. When I want to go heavier I fill a 750 lb fat sack and put it in the walkway and next to driver. This is instead of filling the rear above floor ballast bags. My RZ2 likes more weight up front.
