Not always true. I purchased a new Ford from my local dealer - 1st Ford I ever purchased. They don't have a great reputation, but I wanted to give the local dealership a chance, especially being the World's Oldest Ford dealership and support a local salesperson. I was told that their clients take priority for service and that anything I need would get done with priority as a reward for my loyalty. So, 1st Oil Change comes due and I call at 7 am, asking to DROP the car off for the day and could pick it up at 5. They told me I could drop it but they could not assure me it would get done as they were "too busy" - I had received a call and needed to be 500 miles away the next day. Well, the day I took delivery was the last day they saw that vehicle. They even contacted me to find out why I wasn't coming in to use the free oil changes that I was given...I simply would not give them the privilege. Took it to my local guy for everything after that. I loved that Flex and have my next one on order from a dealer with a good reputation 45 miles away. So even the Auto Dealers will turn business away.

Just brutal , one thing I've leaned in my infinite wisdom, is if it doesn't look or feel right, walk away, specially your incident with the gel coat, I would have asked for my deposit and walked away.... Funny thing is Centurion boats boats has a 5 year warranty that actually covers gel coat issues, something I could not believe till I read it for myself, but i have found out, it's not the boat anymore it's how the dealers take care of you.... And how much a dealers actions determine your perception of a boat manufacturers quality etc
