What about making a platform out of composite decking like Trex? It would need more support under it than teak, but would be maintenance free.

same problem as fiberglass... it'd get scratched all to hell.

I just had a thought... what about corian or granite? I know it'd be a pain in the *** to support it, but talk about a solid, scratchproof setup!

I have to agree, the teak swim platform should be an option. I do not believe it would be a weight issue as we are trying to get the biggest wake by adding ballests. Bottom line it should be considered to make the teak platform an option on this boat.

totally agree, there is a need for a teak platform.

When I used some Trex on my deck, the book said it could be sanded like wood. Our deck doesn't seem to get too scratched up.

Corian might be slippery unless you leave a rough finish on it.

Those would be even worse because they do scratch and it's a major pain to get the scratches out.

Why have any fiberglass on the platform at all? Why not rhino-line the whole thing. You can get in a variety of colors and that stuff is tough as nails...it isn't even affected by battery acid.

I wonder if teak has fallen out of favor as that some other threads have shown up with a lot of guys with major issues about warping and such. I bet Tige would rather have you feeling mediocre about the swim platform then unhappy that your teak won't maintain itself.

The back of that swim platform on the RZ2 looks like it is so big and square that it might interfere with a heavily weighted surf wake. Comments anybody?

That looks to me like a poorly designed swim platform covering. My 05 has a number of areas where there is no skid pad and if you step on it (right on the edge or the big stripe down the middle) you will be on your keester right away because fiberglass and water usually creates a slippery surface. Then in 06, the Ve had the grip almost all of the way to the edge, which seemed like it would be more safe. Now it is back to the inferior design. It looks better for 07, but I prefer function over form.

Could you take off the skid pad and rhinoline the fiberglass platform?

Yep. I've rhinlined or Line-Xed all kinds of things. We just lineXed the inside of my buddies aluminum Bow-fishing boat.

They Rhino/Linex stuff doesn't seem to get as hot as rubber though. This may be a perspective issue.

While we were having the boat done, I had a speaker box, and the grip to a hunting knife sprayed too. The knife was just to see if it would work.

Those products usually have a great warranty too, so if you were to chip/peel/scratch it, they will fix it free of charge..or nominal charge.

I have found that the people who do this stuff don't really know how to charge you for odd items (not truck beds), so if you tell them to wait until they have a truck to do, then spray your stuff, it is usually pretty inexpensive.

A roller would hit that boat and the tower would wobble a good 2-3 inches. There was no movement in any of the other towers on any of the other boats.
The new tower is not rickety. Was shaking one alot Wednesday afternoon. On the seats, they have a dual position hinge so they will not flip up when step on. The seat bottom actually is under the back cushion.

Lee what type of upcharge can we expect on the new tower. Which by the way should not be much. I have a coach who works for me that runs 3 machine shops and we were going over how much a piece like the Z tower would cost in top end Aluminum and I know if the rumors of $2K are right some is getting rich on the deal.

wow... 2k difference in the towers? It does look sharp on the 22vé... but I like the way the "C" tower looks on the Rz2.

                          Lee,

Make sure you hit em up for the Teak.

                            Lucky,

Time to talk about selling boats?

I have been checking into the new Z tower and have also heard that the tower upcharge is between $1500-$2000. I to agree that some increase is expected but lets not get greedy.

I'm really close, but I still have quite a few concerns re: the RZ2.
