Anyone in Need of a PCM 343 5.7L??

    Hey all,

I am playing with the idea of putting a 6.0L In my personal 2012 RZR. We have 6.0L here at WWS that we are going to rebuild and I am thinking about putting it in my boat to give it a little more power!

Well that puts me in the pickle of having my 343 5.7L. I am looking to sell it as a complete! It has 205 hours on it and is perfect condition. It been maintained perfectly for the last 3 years and has no issues.

Let me know if there is any interest on here or if anyone knows of someone who needs a motor!

    Nick,

The guy who sunk his truck at that boat ramp might need a new engine for his truck....

Seriously, though, it's a GREAT engine. Mine runs awesome. Hopefully someone will take you up on it. You might mention which exhaust system it has, since that had a bearing on its original price.

It has the CES Catalytic Converters Exhaust system

You could not install that engine in a 2006 24Ve? My buddy has gone through his second MP motor now. Other than the single exhaust port, would anything else be complicated?

You would have to splice in the existing harness into the new ECM harness..Probably just a couple things on the dash... You might need to reposition the motor mounts/tranny mounts....

It sounds like a can of worms...

He's talked to MP about getting an entirely new engine. One with an updated ECM and everything. Just has to make sure that it would be true 'plug n play'. He lost the same cylinder each time, so he is suspicious that something in the ECM is creating abnormal ignition problems. The other 2 engines had number 7 go bad. White smoke exhaust and IIRC, hole in the piston. The second motor was a reman directly from MP, but with his old ECM and bolt-ons.

Far back cylinder, in the case of a v drive that would near cylinder starboard.... Hmmmm starving for oil when boat is loaded down and bow is high

water is collecting on top of the injector and causing a lean cylinder or just a bad injector. Gut say the root cause of the engine failure was not the engine. It was this transferred from bad engine 1, to bad engine 2 and so on. Mechanics can replace engine, but it takes a technician to diagnose the problem.

So he just bought the short block? And transferred all the goodies over?
I think when you changed the plugs, it would have showed a lean condition, my guess is oil starvation, but a quick look at the piston would tell all

true but only up to the point the piston failed. Then the plug would not be any help. Oil starvation is a possibility but would be seen in cylinder wall and ring damage as opposed to a hole burned through the piston.

Exactly, did anyone see the original motors piston?

I just sent him a message. The first motor's piston had a hole in it, IIRC. He is a pretty decent technician, and it is a little over my head. He had done a compression test last summer on the second motor and found the same cylinder at 50% of what the others were. I think he did the test just out of curiosity, as he was contemplating selling it. It survived fine for quite a while like that, and started blowing white smoke last weekend, so nobody has looked inside this one. The story for motor number 2 suggests wall/ring damage, right?

And yes, the second engine was just the block, with all the old goodies bolted back on it.

With a new engine with all new goodies, he could also get Perfect Pass and not have to put up with the 2006 keypad, or perform Dakota's workaround.

He confirmed a hole in the first piston, this one just had 50% of the compression compared to the rest, so likely different problems. But I guess his odds of having the same piston fail were 1:8, so could just be coincidence. Strange enough that he wants to get all new externals. MP is confirming he can just plug and play the new engine. A change in the wiring harness would be a disaster.

I don't think he has any pictures of the hole in the first piston, and he is only assuming that the white smoke means his previously known to be weak #7 has let loose. He has no plans to break this one down or pop a scope in it, he is just ready to start over.
