    Rank these upgrades

Traded in my '05 v215 for an '11 RZ2 w/ EX343 and factory Surf ballast. I've since trolled the Tigeownersforum and Wake9 for upgrades. My goal is to get at least the wake I had with my v215, but i'm also looking for the best bang for my buck. Some of these, like retrofitting a Convex VX for $2,500, just doesn't seem worth it to me. I was wondering where you Tige folks thought I should focus my upgrades. We usually have 8 people aboard, 4 kids and 4 adults (3 smaller women). Everyone rides regular foot port side

Here is a list of upgrades i'm considering and my thoughts on priority...
1 - Add Mikes Liquid Audio 1,200lb Portside RZ2 bag
    2 - Upgrade prop to Acme 1235/1273 or 1433/1847 (boat came w/ a newer '13 Boatmate trailer)
3 - Add NauticLaugic GPS to the Speedset
    4 - Swap factory 400lb u-bow bag for two separate 400lb bags
    5 - Retrofit a Convex VX

    Am I missing anything thing?

Great site, and thanks for any tips or advise

#1 is a the custom MLA bag and likely #2 is prop. What about a fresh air exhaust?

Have you surfed a dialed RZ2 with a VX? I havent but have surfed a few sac'd out without the VX. I just dont know if the VX is what the RZ hull needs.

Whats your lake elevation? The stock 537 will do good as a surf prop, but once some serious weight above the stock surf ballast is added, you will reach the limits of the 537 and notice cavatation when listed over.

On an RZ2, extra bow wight would be down on my list. The RZ2 likes a lot of rear surf side ballast and bow weight is personal preference for tailoring the wake

If the speedset functions, then one would have to weight the benefits of going to something like the nauticlaugic. no contest if the boat had not speed control or an inop speed control.

I think #1 should be sacs AND the prop. I had an Enzo sac and about 700 lbs of people weight in my boat with the 537 and I thought my boat was about to blow up. I'm sure the stock surf setup would be fine but I wouldn't want to experience that again.
I agree with mike, the speed control is a non issue unless it is not operational. I would change that to FAE. just got mine put on and what a difference it makes.
last I heard tige is no longer retrofitting the vx. if so $2500 is a great price from the others who have gotten quotes on here.
good luck. the RZ2 is a surf beast, no doubt about it.

I have a 2011 RZ2. Of your listed upgrades, my first priority would be the rear 1200# sacs and then the 400# front sacs. I would see how you like the wake with those before considering dropping the significant dough for the VX.

In terms of the prop, I have the MLA 1,200# sacs on both sides in the rear, and the 537 prop has never been a problem, even when 100% on the rear surf side, 100% in the front (I only have the 400# u-shaped sac due to storage and subwoofer space issues), and 25% off-side rear. In my prior boat (a 24V), I didn't like the 1235 because I didn't like the higher RPMs at cruising and skiing speeds. I haven't tried the 1235 on my RZ2 because I haven't had any cavitation issues with the 537. Note that we don't fill ballast for wake boarding, so I'm rarely running at more than 12 mph when we have the ballast full. I have not tried the 1433.

I did get the VX, and I like what it did for the regular (port) side wake. I think it did make it longer and a little more adjustable. I don't, however, like what it did for the goofy (starboard) wake. That wake is still relatively short and steep for some riders, and when I try to lower the TAPS to lengthen it, it gets washed out. I switched to Ragboy's new TAPS plate to see if it would help with the wash, but it didn't (although, with the higher mounting point, it does allow me to take the TAPS down further, which helps me lengthen/mellow the regular side more). People say front weight would help, but even when I put some big guys up there (more than simulating the additional weight I'd get with two 400# sacs), the issues are the same with the goofy wake. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I may actually remove the VX on my next trip out just to see how the goofy wake fares without it. I see everyone you usually go with rides regular, so this shouldn't be as much of an issue for you.

My speed set works great, and I don't see any reason to switch to a GPS-based system. It's also well integrated into the Tige Touch.

If you do get the 1,200# rear sacs, I would also consider adding a cross-over pump and upgrading your fill pumps to a higher GPH than the factory-installed pumps (which will also entail upgrading the fill lines from 3/4-inch to 1-inch). I did that this winter, and it reduced my switch time from 15-16 minutes down to about 6 minutes. Mike at MLA set me up with all the equipment and instructions (first class, as usual), and I had my dealer do the install. MLA's 1,200# rear sacs come with the ports that allow for the cross-over pumps.

Good luck, and congrats on the new boat.

X2 on cross over pump! Helps on fill and empty as well as the switch!

If your Speedset works, don't bother with the nauticlaugic, I fought one last year on our non-Tige Touch '08 and it never did work correctly. Had to ditch it.

I would agree with most here

                1-Ballast
                2-Prop
                Done

I've had GPS (Perfect Pass) on previous boats & find I prefer the paddle wheel. The wheel measures speed over surface which can be significant if you boat on a river & there is some inherent latency between the boat changing speed & GPS measuring it-with the paddle wheel I find my boat applies throttle before the boat slows noticeably-I could feel the lag on the GPS systems. The other thing I ran into which you may or may not is the topography around my lakes caused a few instances where the GPS lost signal. When that happened, speed=0 so throttle is applied to attain desired speed-I'll just say that 30 MPH is interesting on a wakeboard when you are learning :-(

1 - Add Mikes Liquid Audio 1,200lb Portside RZ2 bag
                    Yes

                    2 - Upgrade prop to Acme 1235/1273 or 1433/1847 (boat came w/ a newer '13 Boatmate trailer)
So far with about 1700lbs in ballast and 2-4 in the boat I haven't felt the need for a different prop. When wakeboarding on the other hand and running heavy a 1235 or such would be a nice to have to plain out.

3 - Add NauticLaugic GPS to the Speedset
I think Speedset should be good enough.

                    4 - Swap factory 400lb u-bow bag for two separate 400lb bags
I've even thought about this on my Ve to help the list although personally regular side I don't use any bow weight. Goofy side I do.

I'd suggest FAE as well. Added it this year as I had it on my old boat as well. Forgot how much of a difference it made for noise and lack of exhaust.
                    5 - Retrofit a Convex VX

I put Nauticlaugic on our 2009 RZ2 and it worked flawlessly. It removed some surging during surf sessions and imhop is a worhty upgrade.

HEre would be my order of preference:

                      1) 1200 sacks both sides (starboard might not fill all the way but you will get as much as possible.

                      2) big side to side surf flap. Relatively cheap.

                      3) Acme 1235 prop for extra weight (actually call Acme and ask them). Also buy a weekend propsaver kit so you use your current as a spare.

4 ) Swap factory 400lb u-bow bag for two separate 400lb bags. Our 2009 RZ2 hull responds well to surf side bow weighting. It can increase your lean degrees if few people in the boat and extra capacity can really increase pocket. Note they will not fill to 400.

                      5) NauticLaugic GPS to the Speedset

To answer a few questions, i've never ridden a VX, my lake elevation is ~700ft, we all wake board, but i'm 80% surfing

Seems pretty unanimous about adding ballast weight which makes sense. The bow ballast upgrade seems hit or miss and as I hope, the VX doesn't seem to be of immediate need or possible anyway.
The FAE does sound like a good idea. Was going to get one for the Sanger but dragged my feet
How big of job is it to add the higher GPH pump. Easy access?

Thanks for all the detailed responses! Need to contact Mike

Time flies when you are having fun, so I cant remember when Tige transitioned from the 800 with .75" hose to the 1200 with 1.125" hose. Pumps are easy to see and the floor is easy to lift to gain access. If your 2011 has the 800 pumps, its doable to convert them to an 1100 gph and upgrade the some of the hose 1".

I think that upgrade was mid-'13. Our '13 Z1 was built late May/Early June and was one of the first to our dealer with the faster pumps and larger hose (or at least that is what we were told)
