    wake board racks

the rubber on my wake board racks will turn my hands black every time i touch them, does anyone seem to have this problem. They are the factory swinging tige racks on an 06 24Ve, i have talked to a few other people and they say they have no problems with this, is this just a Tige issue, or problem with just mine???Help

My old Metcrap tower had some Wake Designs board racks on it that did that same exact thing. I think Wake Designs supplies the racks for Tige don't they? Maybe it's a Wake Designs issue? Hmmm, if it looks like **** and smells like ****, it is probably ****. Do they still have the little rubber strip on them? I would thing you could replace them fairly easily.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I guess I could buy new ones but why should I have to when I just purchased a 70K dollar boat? I think this should not be an issue.

I agree. I would be calling Wake Designs and raising some hell.

Yep, same problem here. Then you don't notice it right away until you touch the white upolstry. Even the straps are starting to crack. Major bummer while garaged when off of water. Think I'll call W.D.

Is Wake Designs even still around?? Their website does not work and I can not find an online retailer that actually has any of their products. I am having the same issue with all the black crap and my racks are chromed and that is starting to come off as well. Not too happy with them.

Talk to your dealer first. If they won't help you, I'd get in touch with Andrew.

Wow! I can't believe they haven't figured it out yet. It may seem like a minor issue from an outside observer but to a $60k boat owner it is a disgrace. It truly makes me sick to hear this is still an issue with WD boardracks and that Tige is still using them. Those things have sucked for the last 10 years.

                Well Tige?

Mine are **** also. 04' Switch V. One actually snapped with a board in it last week, could have killed someone. Called the dealer to order new ones, and they (stateamind, MO) said that all the wakedesign **** is on backorder. I wonder why. What a worthless product.

Tige? (to accentuate the already questioning fashion of Nickypoo)

Had the same problem on my o6 22 ve I called wake designs and was told I had to send my old ones back first and they would replace them. After telling me it was probably the sun and the oil on my hands. lol But did agree to replace them. Hope the new ones are better. Sent them out yesterday so we will see! So give them a call they acted like this was the first they heard of this!

Do you have a number for Wake Designs. I still can not get their site to load.

Guys, I dont like to say things like this outright, but those wake designs racks are total crap. Everyone -I repeat- everyone that I've known that has had them has gone through at least one pair, with the fingers breaking, straps dryrotting, and the protective rubber wearing off.

I replaced them this time with monster racks. These are far and beyond the quality of the WD stuff. For example, MT uses thicker aircraft quality aluminum, plastic bushings between the clamp and your tower, and a true-blue bungee cord (covered in protective nylon) to secure your boards. Plus, they detach! WD, on the other hand, uses cheap pot metal aluminum -hidden under a "chrome" plating, which oxidizes like no other. Additionally, they chew up your tower. I've got to file down, fill in, and repaint the teeth marks on my uprights from these things. I personally went through two pairs of their racks and 4-5 sets of straps. This is in a 2 year period.

Oh, and good luck getting in touch with their customer service! Emails and voicemail messages went unanswered. Good thing that I've got a Tigé dealer that takes care of business!!

Monster Tower is where its at. I'm completely done with Wake Designs.

I just replaced mine for the the same reason, strap's dry rotting and the black crap coming off on my hands. This is who I got mine from.

I'll second the recommendation for Monster Tower board racks (or heck, anything they make). My board racks still look new after 1 year and my tower speakers still sound/look better most costing 3 times as much. Then there's price and customer service...it's an unbeatable combination.
