    Need Advice

Went to put the boat in for the season and she would not start. I need some advice on where to start troubleshooting please. Here is what I know.

    05 24v with MP 5.7 340HP

She cranks and turns over briefly. Sometimes more of a stumble and sometimes sounds normal idle for 2 seconds and then dies. There was a lot of white smoke from turning over briefly and it smelled almost like an electrical burning smell. I am thinking that this is from the fog sprayed in the cylinders for winterization. I did not fill the fuel filter/water separator canister with gas when i changed it in the spring. Not sure if this can be a problem but assume that it's not since it fires up briefly.

Bad gas would not be a factor as I put a full tank of fresh gas in at winterization with Stabil Marine
Batteries tested and have 12.65 volts full
ran perfectly in the fall when I put her to sleep for the winter.
No milky oil but it doesn't run long enough to likely see this.

My biggest fear is the dreaded cracked block because of the white smoke. Can a cracked block make for this kind of starting behavior?

I am at a loss on where to start trouble shooting. Very depressing start to the season! Please any help?

I would start with the simple things - replace the plugs. I am not sure fogging oil is too bad for plugs, but it would be an easy fix.

How did you apply the fogging oil? through the throttle body or into each cylinder via the spark plug holes? Im guessing its just having a hard time turning over due to fogging oil. It should burn off after you get the engine running, and there will be plenty of white smoke as it burns off. How long did you try getting it to turn over?

I sprayed in the plug holes. I cranked it and it turned over briefly I guess a dozen times.

CDA do you know how to take it out of gear so you can manipulate the throttle without the prop turning? I would try increasing the throttle while cranking until the oil burns off. It may not run at idle right away.

I posted an update on Saturday but it didn't go up. Thanks for the help. I think it was a combination if not priming the fuel filter and fog spray in the cylinders. Is started right up the next day and burned off the fog spray and has run great ever since.
