Alpha Z Tower Leg Covers for Rain

Does everyone with an Alpha Z tower have problems with rain walking down the tower legs and getting into the interior of the boat? The cover is not tight enough around the legs. I even think there is water coming in through the hole shown here where the tower hinges to be laid flat. When it travels in through this hole it fills the hull/bilge area. Even if the hole were plugged, the rain runs down the leg and soaks the seats and carpet inside the boat. With all the Alpha Z tower owners out there has anyone come up with a decent solution to prevent the water from coming in? I have used a bungee like shown below and even placed a microfiber around the leg inside the cover and then bungeed, but as the towel gets saturated it will still leak...

Shrink wrap if travelling or storage. I personally pull a 15x30' tarp over my hole boat in my driveway.

I'm talking about regular summer outdoor use. It stays in the garage all winter but in the summer it has to stay at the lake due to Tiger Mussel inspections. I would hate to have to shrinkwrap the legs 30 times this summer after use. Good idea for long term storage though.

I usually wrap an old beach towel around the tower legs so that just a little of it is above the cover and the rest is below the cover. This seems to help with the interior.

You could get an upholstery shop to make a neoprene wrap with velcro that you can wrap and re-use like saran wrap. It could get pulled very tight to create a seal around the tower legs the cover holes and let the water run off it down to the cover.

Agreed... Bullshxt the holes are so long. Neoprene w Velcro is the answer IMO.

Happens to me as well. It is very annoying if I must say so myself

I've also complained about this before. I'm building a carport to fix it. . Don't let my wife read this thread.

Maybe time for Tige to come out with something in the gear shop for us to purchase

I am sitting at home right now contemplating leaving the boat home this weekend as it is supposed to rain on and off and don't want water in it also! Hate the unnecessary hours of cleaning due to rain getting in!

I used to wrap mine with pallet wrap. I found that you need to wrap it all the way up to where the tower would fold and get it in the crease. If you just wrap around the cover, water will still get in, just less of it. By wrapping up and into the crease it will minimize the amount of water that can run into the wrap and down the tower leg.

Bring my boat to a Shop last week. Will post pics later.
They took off the part around tower and made a new one with Néoprène and velcro

They also made surf pocket on the bimini top

Very nice. I'm eager to here how they work. Clever idea. If you can post more pics of how it is stitched on I would appreciate it.

Thanks for posting that Dan. I too would like to see pictures of how its stitched in. Looks like the hole is covered too. I wonder if with a heavy rain it would still get in thru the upper part of the tower joint. I may add 12" to this arrangement and we'd be set.
