How to remove back rests

I need to get at my lights behind my very front backrest in my '99 21v riders. The it moves up and down so I thought there might be a lever, but I can't get it off. I tried to get my hand under and behind to see if there were bolts that I could take out, but I can't get my hand back there.

Any ideas?

More than likely its like most seat backs. Studs with nuts on them. Your probably getting some movement because they are loose.

Could you take out the front speakers and reach the lights?

Turns out you can just take out the light fixture from the outside. Then I just fished the wires from the hole in the outside and put it back together.

Now I need to find out how to get the JVC speaker out because the wires are ripped out of that as well. (I think I set my anchor down on the wires and ripped them all out. Need to get those tucked up under there better.
