    Keys

I feel sheepish asking this. I lost both sets of keys for my boat (left one set on the bumper and have no idea what happened to the other). Called my local dealer and he tells me Tige doesn't sell replacement keys and that some electrical board needs to be changed in order to re-key. The local dealer is a ways away. Is there a reason I can't just bring a locksmith out?

Just call a lock smith and he can cut you a new key. Had to do that on my friends Malibu last year since he left the keys at home on a week long trip...

Doesn't an older boat like that use a standard marine keyswitch? My 2009 does, standard off the shelf part. Just swap it out.

I think your right and there are only like 2 different keys that work in the majority of the boat ignitions out there.
Came up on another forum and consensus was try a friends boat key and it's likely to work. Plus boats are pretty easy to hotwire generally.

X3. I've had to do this on 2 of my old boats when the keys get lost in the off season. Super easy to switch out the ignition switch and you get 2 new keys out of it.
