    Steering Problem on 2006 20V

I just got my boat out from winter storage and it started right up.
Took it out for a spin and the steering was super hard....like when you
lose power steering in a car.
I see posts on changing out the steering cable...does this sound like a cable
problem or is there anything else I should look into? I don't have a dealer
nearby, but do have a guy that works on my boat. thanks for any help.

Mine was a bit stiff this year as well. You can also try greasing the ruder to see if that helps loosen it up.

You could try disconnecting the cable at the rudder and see if it's still stiff, I'd bet money that you have a cable that is seizing up though...

Sounds like time for a new cable.

I had a similar issues this year. Salt crystals had formed inside the guide tube on the teleflex near the rudder. It had totally seized up. Once cleaned up it has become bearable for now.

Sounds like a bad steering cable. Timing seems to be about right. Had one go out on my 05 boat a few years ago and this year on the 07 I just picked up. (Fortunately the previous owner agreed to have it changed out for me before I took it)

So I took out the seat and an having trouble getting the floor board out....is anything
holding it down??? I want to check the cable first for any obvious problems..lubricated
and cleaned up by the rudder..helped a little but not a lot.

The cables aren't super expensive, and if you tie a piece of mechanics wire or something similar to the old one before you pull it out, you should be able to feed it back using the wire as a pull guide and not even have to mess with getting the floor out...
