Can't wait to see your wake with the XL bags.

We have the SURF "X" bags. We surf mostly with only a driver in the boat and no other people weight (no haters plz., its legal in MO with a flag and a mirror). While the goofy wake is kick ***, I am struggling to get a great looking standard wave and great push at the same time because I am only pulling 4-5 degrees when adding 30-40% offside weight in the aft. I can get one or the other, but not both. I think there may be some lead in my future. The AVX is pretty kick *** though, it does absolutely change the characteristics and curl of the wave.

You need more weight 007. I have the stock x surf ballast and it's just not enough

But I asked Chase how much weight was in the corners and I calculated 100% full on surf corner, 50% in opposite corner then 1100 up front. So that means, for whatever reason, I had understood 1000 lbs in the corner on Saturday. I definitely was not counting people.
Ok, thanks for clarifying. I was initially going on the assumption that no opposite weight was used until chase and RJ set it up for Sunday. Number make more sense knowing the opposite weight was used.

Recently we played with the weight a bit more on our 15 Z3 with Surf X and no AVX and only put 25% on opposite side surf rear and 75% opposite side front and 100% front rear surf side and the wave was a lot cleaner, longer and deeper. We surf around 10.6-10.8 also. Last summer we were filling all bags 100% except the rear opp which we would put 25% and the wave was large just seemed to lack. Somehow taking that 25-30% out of the opposite side front has allowed it to list a bit more or maybe my memory fails me from last year but with the new setup this year we are happy for now.

@Greeko, I agree more weight would be nice, but I can't afford to lose anymore storage as its tight now with kids stuff on board. When friends are on board weight is perfect.

Ok I am confused about what bags are on my 2015 z3

Originally last November when I got started picking and choosing colors and options the avx and x bags where on the list that I ordered from?
We held off on putting it into the production schedule until I think February and it was completed about 3 weeks ago.
Do I have the x or xl bags?? What is the difference, they do come up under the seats like the aftermarket bags I bought for my 2014, although not quite as far forward on the regular side though.
Hope I'm good since I could have kept my bags from the old boat.

Situations like this are why I'm still waiting to upgrade boats. Too much **** changing, and I can't figure out if it's bad planning, bad marketing, or if the left hand isn't talking to the right. Probably all of the above. Might seem like a minor issue, but X vs XL is what, $1300 for new bags? And I don't want to hear that "you can always throw a fat sac on the floor or some lead in the locker". That's bs.

@mpnracing. I understand your frustration. I believe things are locked down at this point, until the next model year, but that is not my thing, so I can't speak to it. I will say that tige with the Surf XL went as far as they felt comfortable with weight from the factory and meeting NMMA and other standards.

I think most will be very happy with the SurfXL and have no need for anything else. I have pictures on the way, and finishing a video, which will help.

My dealer is great, and I'd love to pull the trigger on a new boat, and was ready to do so in for both 2014 and 2015 model years, but when I get ready to, I hear of another tweak being made. Don't get me wrong, the changes have all been good, but always seem to fall short of being turn-key. Meaning, they put in bigger bags in the Surf X, but still not big enough so doesn't really move the mark, since I would still have to buy bigger bags. Now they have Surf XL, which I'm not sure is available yet, maybe it is, I can't keep up. Then it was VX with a steeper fixed angle, but then within weeks AVX was announced. I see this in other brands, Malibu introduced surfgate, then revised it in 2014, and in 2015, new wedge, etc. but they do a better job of keeping each model year consistent, so when you talk about a 2015, you don't have to ask "which version of 2015".....reminds me of BMW's where used to have different brand transmissions in the same model/year depending on what was available at the time of assembly.

Tige is still at the top of my list, but my dealer knows I won't be buying a new one until the dust settles, and it's still pretty windy around here....[rant off].....

How much more weight is in the Surf XL bags vs. the Surf X bags?

Correct me if I'm wrong..... Isn't the "Surf XL" still the same weight as "Surf X", just with no hard tanks and now all sac? If you build a Z3 on the site, it still lists total ballast capacity at 3500lbs. Anxious to see yalls results with AVX Ragboy. I am loving my AVX boat, but could use a little more professional dialing.

You are correct, but with it being all one bag I've talked to at least one person who thinks it will actually be a couple hundred pounds more with the Surf XL bag than the bag/hard tank comb just because the XL bag can expand and fill all the space. Who knows if that is true or not, or which one actually hits the 3,500lb. mark.

@007 That isn't correct, it doesn't fill in the space. We made bigger bags that do, though, and will be testing those this weekend. I am posting pictures, the surf XL bags do not take up the space, but because they don't, they don't leak much at all without cross drain/vent. So when you do go to bigger ones, like we are doing, then you need to cross drain/vent.

we are also working on a second solution...

I am thrilled with our first outing on the 2015!!!!!!

I originally traded in our 2014 for a 2015 only because it had a motor problem that could not be corrected by my dealer over the span of our michigan season, old story!

Now for the positive, our lake is very shallow unfortunately 5 to 14 ft and we struggled to get any consistency with our surf wave last year especially on the goofy side ( my boys are goofy..lol) the 2014 had the VX with the aftermarket bags so weight should be close between the boats. In the same areas on the lake that the wave used to flatten out bad and the kids could never give up the rope they can throw the rope back and we had a good consistent wave down to were the depth finder read 5 ft.
Felt like we may have had a bit more list than usual but wow we could never get a goofy wave like on the 2014.

Again we are pleasantly surprised at the improvement over the 2014 on our second day with this boat.
Only issue is the listing feature on the Tige touch two is not reading.
I assume the depth finder is calibrated from the boat bottom meaning the depth is actually deeper by adding the boats draft?? I reads down to 2ft and I didn't hit bottom
