Tige Z1 with AVX Outperforms the Competition at Southern Surfest, May 2-3

Were you at the Southern Surfest this past weekend?

The Southern Surfest was in Atlanta. 45 people surfed behind the Tige Z1 with AVX over the last two days. Only two of those people had ever surfed behind a Tige before. Nautique, MC, Moomba, Supra, Centurion, Supreme, and Malibu were all at this event.

The Tige Z1 with AVX performed excellent and we received great reviews from everyone. The AVX was a hit, and everyone kept commenting about how clean the wake was, and how much “push” the wake had.

We had to take a break in the action both days for the competitor boats to refuel. This took over an hour each day. Even after the refuel, the Mastercraft X23, and the Malibu 23LSV ran out of fuel at the end of the day on Saturday. The Tige Z1 never had to take fuel, and we still had 8 gallons left at the end of the day. Everyone at the event was amazed that we never had to stop to get fuel.

It was a great event for Tige and the local Tige dealer, Pull Marine Services. If you were at this event, please share your experience here. We’d love to see your photos!

That's great news Jean, we love ours. Can't wait to read the reviews and hear what setup was run. Hope somebody took notes while setting it up.

I was there with three other friends. The first day we rode the following boats in this order; X-23, Malibu LSV24, Supra SE550, Supreme 226, X20 and the Z1.
Unfortunately we were running late the first day due to the refueling. When we got on the Z1 it was already 6:00pm.
X23 threw a big bump that was very adjustable.
Malibu had a nice stock bump.
The Supra had at least 2,000 lbs above stock weight and had a huge bump
The Supreme was stock and was listed well over 10 degrees and had no bump
The X20 had no goofy bump (washed out) and the regular side was ok

The Z1 surprised everyone. Only stock ballast. After 6 one hour sessions the Z1 still had a 1/4 tank of gas.
One of my friends is in the market for a new boat. He has his heart set on a G23. He wants to transfer from side to side quickly as 2 of the 4 riders in his family are goofy. After riding the Z1 he was ready to buy a Z3. The wave was the cleanest and most adjustable out of any of the boats we rode. The AVX is awesome. We could make the wave knee high or chest high just by pressing the button on the remote or dash. All the other boats had huge bumps maybe even bigger then the Z1! However the Z1 had the only WAVE! It actually curled over! My friend was dropping to one knee and letting the wave curl over his head. He was as giddy as a school boy. My other friend did not want to ride anymore as his legs were cashed and it was getting cold. After he saw the Z1 wave he jumped right in and was stoked on the wave. The wave had so much push he almost rode into the back of the boat.

The second day I rode the Axis 24 and G23.
Axis 24 had a nice big bump.
G23 had an additional 1,100 lbs above stock. Made a big bump, but was no where as clean as the Z1 wave.

I am stoked to get our 15 Z3 with AVX on the water this weekend. Just wish the water was warmer than 54 degrees.

Here is a picture from the Soulcraft Instagram feed. That is a pro rider Jordan Wolfe getting some nice air.

Next year send the Z3 to the event as all but the Z1 and X20 were 23 feet or longer.

Good write up and glad to hear good reviews about our Tige boats, I'm just getting familiar with the AVX and touch2.

The guys on the wake world forum don't give our Tige boats much love and respect

I assume the Z1 had the stock 400 raptor which is more than enough power and yes they are extremely powerful while still getting excellent fuel usage.

I was talking to a new malibu owner and the dealers are telling them to go with the 450 as it does better on fuel compared to the 400 but hey if it sells a more expensive engine why not!

Someone makes allot of profit on the motor that upgrade, it's basically the same motor anyway.

I am keeping my receipts so far with our new Z3 with the 400. It has 10 hours on it now. If a 450 can get this type of fuel economy, I want to see it. I want to wait for a couple more receipts, but I am blown away so far.

There were some rider evaluations posted in several other forums. They will be posted soon on Southern Surfest website.

These were not just professional riders out to stroke their sponsors. I am surprised that nobody has posted those results yet. Maybe nobody posted them here because Tige ranked 8th out of the 10 boats tested. This is not meant to hurt anyone's feelings, just to promote discussion. Whatever the riders were looking for, they found it better in most of the other boats. I do hope that Tige would bring their best surf boat next year and not be afraid to ballast it up extra to create the best wave possible.

                            Those are some interesting findings.

I loved surfing behind the Supreme 226 but threw up every time I walked into the boat LOL... Surprised it scored so low...

I am not surprised with the top 4, I would have rank those in my top as well!

I am a little surprised the Z1 didn't do as well as the others...Mind you its 21 feet vs 23 foot boats in the top 6 ...

this means nothing, considering the coordinator(s) dictate the speed the boat was to go for wave ranking. The boat provider should have had the choice to choose the speed that created the best wave and/or at least the rider surfing/judging. Too easy for a speed to be chosen, that suites a particular brand, like that thats sported by those putting the event together.
