    sub/amp upgrade

I came across a deal for a 10 inch Rockford fosgate t1d4 for 120 bucks in good condition. If I were to put that in place of the cvr which I have a slot ported enclosure around 2.25 and running the 700.5 stock amp. Should I just get it on it's own amp since it's obviously under powered? And just not use the sub output on that amp. Or just reconfigure amps all together with 2 new ones?

I put a lot of time into this enclosure and just want a powerful 10 if possible? I could tell the sub sounded great but as you turn it up the amp shuts down.

Lets assume that the enclosure does happen to align with the T1D410's T/S parameters, you would would want to drive that woofer with about 800W to make the upgrade pay off. So now, you need to determine how that woofer, or any other replacement, is going to act in the current ported enclosure.

I could tell the sub sounded great but as you turn it up the amp shuts down.
For the sake of the amp and system, I would address this while the current sub is still in play.

I end up just getting confused. ....maybe I'll just end up leaving it with the cvr....

Would I just leave the 700.5 kicker hooked up without the sub hooked up and just put this Rockford on its own? or possibly just upgrade to a more power 5 channel amp....?

Yes, other wise changing the sub only does little. If two things stay the same, as in the box and a sticking with a 10" woofer, you will have to up the wattage, by a LOT! Other wise, changing just the woofer only changes the sound signature, but does little to increasing output.

Given the kind of wattage needed to make a difference, you are better off going with a dedicated mono sub amp. The Kicker ZX800.1 would be spot on for that woofer.
