350 Mag V / Serp Belt

I have the 350 Mag Merc Cruiser Engine and was going to buy a new one on amazon (57-807755Q04) along with some other purchases this week when a friend told me that someone on this site recommended he buy a different one that was about 1/2" shorter then this one so the tensioner pulley was not maxed out.

Is anyone on here familiar with what he is referring to and might know a part number? I did a search for V-belt in the forms and didn't come up with anything.

After my buddy did some digging he found this part number for an alternative. He got it from auto zone. I'm going to get it on amazon.

I have always went off the belt length.... Think it is about 87.5"... Never really thought about the brand much... I generally stick to NAPA...
