    Wakeboarding rope, spectra? dyneema?

Are all the spectra and dyneema ropes basically the same with a different outer covering? I have heard of wakeboarding cable, spectra line, poly-coated spectra, spectra infused, spectra outer jacket, dyneema, 16 strand dymeema. What's the difference?

they are all ropes. Just get one, it honestly doesn't matter.

Personal preference of mine is the slick coated mainline (has a plastic coated exterior). These things NEVER tangle (honeslty) and dont hurt when they run through your hands.

Oh I plan it. I just want to get the stiffest (no stretch) one. I think most of these claim "no strech" but also alow for a small % of it (ex. 96%). They all look a little different and I guess I'm just looking for the type with the stiffest core. The outer cover doesn't matter as much to me.

no..thats what Im saying...if you get a decent rope, you arent going to be able to tell a difference. Just get one you like, and that has good ratings.

          I prefer the Spectra ropes.

          That is all...

We have a spectra line without the slick coating. I think I would have preferred the slick coating for the same reasons as gschmidt, but it still isn't bad.

I bought this one because I can't see paying $120. It's exactly the same as the other coated lines and works perfectly. I got on their mailing list and got it for $45 out the door.

I concur with Lucky 275. After my ropes lost a run in with a gallon of chlorine I looked for an alternative. The guy from Bullet had a post on wakeworld. I got a coated spectre line with a new handle for $90 OTD which included shipping.

No complaints on rope or handle from any of the riders last week
                Let it be!!!

I'll back ya up on the bullet lines. Top quality spectraline, and I got mine for $45 bucks. Plus, they're made in TEXAS.... just like Tigés!

Well I bought an Accurate fire jacket (spectra w/ dyneema) rope w/ handle for $99. It worked great... until it got wet. Only a few rides into our first morning out I noticed it did not float very well and with the red and black color, it was very hard to see. Sure enough, my driver found it with the prop. $99 gone after 1 hr of use.

Now with the rope cut from the handle(the handle had foam and floated well), I decided to test Accurates claim on the internet that it "floats like a cork". I wrapped the rope up and put it in a bucket. Same result. It floated for a few minutes when it was dry and then it sank. Luckily Sport Chalet exchanged it after I told them about the bucket test.

Now I have a Proline dynema rope with the slick outer cover and a Proline dyneema handle with a leather grip. The new handle does not have foam and I'm wondering how well the 2 will float. Any ideas???

I use the Straightline Thermal and their Bantam carbon fiber handle and I love it. Never had a rider say anything bad about it. Seems to float fine...

I just got an accurate "a" line....didnt have any float probs w/it. I really like it and have and older accurate handle. the only other handle I like is the helium collin wright.
The coated line is greatness when running thru the hand w/no burn.
