Input on FAE for 2000 2300V Limited

So boat is out of storage but still months before we will be hitting the water. Finally going to get an FAE for it and looking for some info/advice. Going through the order process and plan to get the quick release option from the swim deck. The other is the exhaust flaps. Should I get them, does it matter?

I passed on the exhaust flaps but my boat was out of warraty anyway so I didn't worry about it. I have never had any issue. Quick release is the way to go for mounting to the swim deck. It should only take you a few hours to install and you will really be glad that you did the upgrade.

x2 I also passed. It worked fine upon initial testing and loved the quiet.

I believe that the exhaust flaps are only there so that unscrupulous dealers won't point to the FAE as a reason for engine failure. I would like to talk to Larry Mann (FAE inventor/owner) and ask him myself what his opinion is. I would think he would be sued left and right if the FAE was causing engine failure. I think it is his response to uneducated dealers.

I do know that the guys at Ilmor (Mastercraft engines) have an absolute negative stance on it, and refuse to endorse it, flappers or not.

I have about 500 hrs of surf time with my FAE installed on my 2001 2300v. I have nothing but praise for my FAE, love the quiet and the no fumes. I do not have flaps installed.

I have 2100V Limited with the FAE. I love it! Got quick release but not the exhaust flaps. Quiet and no exhaust smell.

FAE on my 2000 21V for the past few years with no flaps (didn't even know they were available) with no issues. You will love the quiet. Like adding a bigger stereo.

What is the reason for not using a simple down turn design, one on each exhaust?

I'm assuming there is slightly less drag directly behind the prop was opposed to the sides where the exhaust is. It also would then create less distortion in the way the water comes off the back....my guess as I am by no means an engineer......just really really good looking.

The main point is getting the exhaust in the prop wash and not affecting your wake and wave.

As soon as the boat is in gear, it the prop wash pushes the exhaust away from the boat.

Once you have experienced an FAE, you will never want to go back. I love mine. I also went no flaps. Larry doesn't seem to push the flaps so its likely an option to satisfy the guy thats uncomfortable removing the factory flaps on install and no longer having flaps.
