First trip of the new lake season.

    image.jpgimage.jpg
Air temp got up to 85, and lake temp to 64 while I was out today. Lake is still to chilly for me to get in. I went to beach and got in up to my knees but that's it. I'm sure all the Canadians will think 64 is swimming weather but not me. And also I have no idea why the pics are sideways.

I would love 64 right now. My lake is 55

64!!!???? I'd surf in 50 right now. We still have ice.

For me I lose the wetsuit at about 62.

my local lake is pretty shallow, so it doesn't take very long to get the temp climbing. With temperatures expected in the high 70's low 80's next few weeks it won't be long before I break out the surfboard. Surfing in 50 degree water is just nuts by the way johnnie. Boat ran great for sitting since September 5th. I am having an issue with my taps though. The pump seems to be working but it won't move the plate. Anyone have any ideas what to check? Fluid level looked fine. Pretty well stumped on what's wrong.

I second that 64F is nowhere near cold... Barely need a wetsuit to ride in that. My lake is still hard as well. Should still get to be on the water in May, who knows??

This thread is turning into a "at what temp do you jump in the water?" thread.

One week after ice break we are on the water with or without wetsuits seeing we only have shorties. 42 degree water with a shortie wetsuit is the coldest I have been in. It was my best set ever as I did not want to fall.

Hit Lake Conroe this past Friday. First sunny day in a long time. Tried my new wetsuit and I think it's too warm already. Water temp around 70, air temp around 80. Good to be on the water.

We surf in 50's all day long with no wetsuit. Shoot, 60 and we're are down right hot. Last winter we were out in Feb in a wetsuit in 37, it was chilly but doable. Colorado for ya

^^^^Why? That just sounds stupid. Buy a good wetsuit and be comfortable.

We just aren't cold. 50's water temp is fine for us as long as air temp is warm. The high in our lake is somewhere around 62

I have surfed Conroe a few times now. Got to go out today and wore thin 1 or 1.5 mm top can't remember its thickness wasn't totally necessary but comfortable. Don't have a boat water temp gauge on my R20. Your boat is saying 70? SJRA says 64 today. Wore my 5mm wetsuit at 60 and it was comfortable.

Where do you surf? What boat do you have and what does it look like? I am a Lime Green R20 usually surf by Del Lago down toward April Sound. Stop me and say hello if you see me.

I'm in a black, yellow, and white Z3. I'll look for you next time I'm up on Conroe. I live on lake Houston so usually down there. Boat going in the shop next week for repairs. Bent a few parts on my log filled lake.

I brought my boat home on Thursday before the long weekend. Did an oil change and mounted my FAE and went for a test run on Sunday with a buddy and our boys. Putting out I could smell a burning smell. I knew something wasn't right and my buddy just said it's cause it hasn't been ran in a while. Then the dash starts beeping....she's hot......Forgot to install the impeller back in. First time I have ever done it. At home running my fake a lake the hose has enough pressure to push the water through so I didn't notice. Anyway, I had brought my socket set and had my spare impeller in my tool box. 15 minutes later we were back up and running. Won't forget that again. Didn't get in the water this time but it was 50. brrrr!
