After seeing another forum member’s swim platform project, I decided to give this a go. Below are some before and after pictures as well as some pics of the various steps. Need to put one more coat of teak oil on, but pretty close to being finished. Now it just needs to warm up about 60 degrees so we can actually use the boat…
Props to steelerskbb for the idea. I don’t think mine looks quite as good as his, but it’s a lot better than what it looked like after the end of last season.

My wife’s uncle owns a steel fabrication shop so he used a plasma cutter to cut the Tige logo into the steel. I just emailed him a PDF. The exterior dimensions are 20” x 40”. The actual size of the logo is 8.5” x 33”.
I used a medium sized blowtorch to burn the logo in. In hindsight, a smaller torch would’ve probably been preferable, but I was too lazy to go out and pick up a different one. If the steel stencil doesn’t lie completely flat on the wood, you can get burn marks beyond the desired lettering. Even with taking my time and placing weights on the stencil, I still had some sanding to do afterwards to make the lettering look better.
