I'm grappling with whether or not FAE is needed on a Vx boat. You can push exhaust down into the water but it comes up eventually.... only a matter of where. So the big advantage to me is the noise reduction.

    Sent from my Passport
Having been on a Vx vs my boat with FAE, the Vx boat is pretty quiet at surf speeds and below as the vx is trapping the noise between the vx and the water (compared to any other mfg, surprised this is never mentioned at + for the Vx boats). I noticed it the most while at the Polar Bear event 2 years ago. The Z1 and Z3 had Vx's and we fairly quiet. The 22V had an FAE and was the quietest boat. The MB, malibu, and Supreme did not have and FAE and it was noticeable increase in noise over the Vx and FAE boats. One thing I do think is very interesting. After adding an FAE to my boat, I am VERY conscious of the extra noise when riding on a boat without an FAE. Its one of those thing you don't realize how big of a deal it is until you get used to having it and someone takes it away.

It could just be me but I think my boat is quieter with an FAE than a Vx boat (again maybe someone else can confirm). At cruise speed and wakeboard speed, I am pretty sure a Vx boat will be much loader than a FAE equipped boat. Even at 25 miles an hour you hear the water more than the engine exhaust on my boat with my FAE.

You are correct about pushing the exhaust down and what is amazing is how quickly the water is moving even at idle speeds from the prop. The prop wash is actually pretty effective at getting the exhaust back and away from the boat even at slow speeds.

I'm hesitant - worried about reports of spray. Not willing to install the flap.

This promotion doesn't actually apply to a 2013 Z3, does it?

I missed the end of the season promotion last year, and I've been hoping to get in on the next promotion!

Also Travism. You can do the whole quote process on their website. It's just a few drop down options.

Viking: From my experience on my old boat the spray is very minimal and I only ever noticed it more at full out speed. It was all under the platform at wakeboard speeds and at surf speed it will be all pushed down by your platform

X2 and the Z measurement is key. I had my z measurement off the first time I used it and I had spray. I then put a flap on. Then I found out my Z measure was off. I have been on other surf boats with no impact to the wave from FAE.

If you mount it properly and your platform isn't tiny then you don't have to worry about spray. The vx is the perfect for a mudflap lol

If you have a single exhaust...why wouldn't it apply to the 2013 Z3? If you call them and be like can you do a deal for dual exhaust..I bet you they would!

Were you too far into the water? or not enough?

Not enough. I had the T at a pretty good angle away from the boat.

I installed a FAE on my first boat, 2011 Tige RZ2. I put over 500 hours on it and never had an engine issue. I recently bought a 2015 Z3 and I really miss having an FAE for noise reduction. Its amazing the noise difference.

So can this work on a 2015 with the AVX? a way to mount it like the nautique or to the transom would be needed since the AVX moves. I'm in Austin and can bring the boat by for a test fit or to figure out how to mount it.

                        Thanks,

I never have experienced any spray from my FAE. I'm very picky about my wave and here is a video of several different days and the wave on both sides. If someone is experiencing the FAE causing a spray my guess would be their boat is not setup very well. Considering the water coming off the outside edge of the hull ends up on the top of the wave it would be hard for the FAE to cause any spray. If the FAE causes spray then maybe we should remove the Taps plate because it definitely displaces more water than the FAE. When I first installed the FAE I thought it was causing that straight up spray on the top of the wave. I then firmly gripped my head, pulled it out of my *** and set my boat up properly and the spray disappeared. The FAE is a great addition to any surf boat.

Pricing for 13' RZR? No VX. Single exh 343 PCM. I'm thinking of adding a surf flap this year so would that be an issue?

According to Larry at fae the avx can be mounted to the transom on this boat. No platform mounting required.... u will have to drill a hole into u r transom...
