04-early 06 will be the 22v model with the marine power engine. Some 06 models have cruise control issues. Late 06/07 will be the 22ve model which has a few more options like a fiberglass swim platform, walk thru transom, vision chair, engine a little different with full fuel injection, and cruise control is different and there are some issues in the early 07 models which can be a PITA but can be fixed. Later 08-09 22ve models would be a better choice as the 09 will have the PCM engine and there are very few issues with these but will pay a decent price for one as they are highly sought after.

The 24Ve is a large boat and handles big water and chop without any issues. The 22ve models do excellent also in chop but nowhere near what the 24ve will do. The 22ve is an all around water sport boat and is easier to handle on the water, trailering, or garaging.

Lots of talk on here about the 22v and 22ve over the years so plenty of info if you search them.

I owned a 2005 22V for 3 years and loved it. Then I bought my 2007 24Ve and love it even more. If you frequently have 5 or more people on your boat, you will really appreciate the extra room in the 24V/Ve. Both are great boats. Also, I would recommend 07 or later because the electronics changed as did the speed control system.

What are your thoughts on a 07 rz2?

I have one and have been quite happy with it but there are few things I don't care for. Mine has the Eseries tower (there are different ones) which I think looks decent but is a little shaky. The factory ballast system is not great and most of it needs to be removed to add a bigger, better system. The Speedset is better than the 06 model but still not nearly as smooth as the PerfectPass in my old boat. And the factory Bimini is a complete POS. I hate that thing.

You'll find these same issues on the VE series boats as well since they use most of the same components. I do really like my RZ2 though. The wakeboard wake is plenty good enough for someone of my limited abilities and the surf wake is quite good with lots of weight.

You'll find most people will recommend finding a 09 if your budget allows it. That was the sweet spot for the Ve and RZ series. New style tower, PCM engine, ballast tanks under the floor, and it's before TigeTouch.
