Options?!?! Which ones to pick and which ones are a rip off?

    Hey guys,

I am just going through the paces of picking colors and options.. Picking colors is harder than I thought. The online builder doesn't look very realistic..

I am not sure familiar with Tige and am not super sure with which options to pick, below is my list. Does anyone have anything to add or certain options they wish they had gotten?

    Luxe Paint
Tower of power with 2 pairs of speakers
    Avx with surf link
    pro surf ballast option
    Underwater lighting x 2
    Z-cline seat
    Heater

I ordered ours this past November. The AVX comes with the surf X ballast system in the Z3. I do not know what boat you are ordering? IMO two pairs of speakers is over kill. We went with single rev10s. Our lake is not that clear plus the bugs are bad at night so we decided not to get underwater lighting. It is easy to add if we regret it.
I added the extra cleats. We also went with a white tower and speakers. I have a friend that owns a body shop, if we decide to paint the speakers to match the hull he will do it for a fraction of what Tige offers.

      Ditto on adding midship cleats
Ditto on single pair of Rev10's
Z cline is nice, but not necessary on Z (and ASR might demand it though)
      Heater nice... necessary?...that depends
I love the underwater lights, but the AVX does reduce their effectiveness IMHO

If you are surfing, I think the AVX and Surf X is a must.

Remember, with the base gel coat in 2015 the main hull color is the interior color also. That was not the case last year and was an upgrade. However the upgraded gel gets you the nice accents if that is your design preference.

Here is a link to a thread that was discussed some of your concerns a couple months back maybe it will help a bit. As far as your list I did all of the items on it when I ordered other than the AVX which wasn't available at that time. It is easier to have the factory install the items than to go back and do it yourself later. Some items the dealer can do for cheaper, but you will have to speak with them.
We ordered and don't use all the underwater, tower lights etc very often, but for no more than it costs i'm glad I have them. RESALE RESALE RESALE as someone will want them!!

Tower of power with 2 pairs of speakers: 2 pair if you can also get the Wet Sounds SD-2 amp in place of the Syn-2. The one huge advantage to getting the speakers from Tige, is the beauty collars that bridge between the pod and tower. They are a Tige piece, not Wet Sounds and the only way to get them is from Tige WITH a pair of speakers.
Avx with surf link: I have not personally surfed an AVX boat, so I cant say how good it is. Based on the little feed back, it may be worth it. As noted below, if you get the AVX, the upper level ballast options is standard.
pro surf ballast option: If you plan to surf, get the extra ballast as you will want it later
Underwater lighting x 2: The boat is prewired for underwater LEDs, so if the OEM selection doesnt fit your color scheme, leave off and do your own. Lots of quality lights in a variety colors, price and output.
Z-cline seat: This seat is Da Bomn!
Heater: Nice feature if you live in the cooler climates of if you like to start early and extend your season
          Just some thoughts

I think if you are unsure on whether to buy or wait, I would think about the financing. If you are going to want it in a year then you have to pay all out of pocket or credit card or whichever. If you think you want it then just order it and it goes into the financing. Now there are some things that Tige charges way too much for, but also do you have someone better to do it for a good price or can you do it yourself and order good parts? Just some food for thought.

I ordered mine with almost every option available at the time and the one thing I did not add I wish i would have. I can add it on now, but it would be a huge PITA.

I usually will not say this, but I have to disagree with CHP on the speakers. With the REV10s, I truly believe that one pair is enough. With 2 pair, I feel it really interferes with the head clearance which is tight with the AlphaZ tower for some as is. We found that 1 pair was loud enough and with where they mount, they get to be really loud for the passengers in the lounge area. Now, if you think you may want to add a 2nd pair later...do it right away.

Not sure on the VX, but if it was me I would be adding it. We had the VX on our Z1 and ran it with and without and it made a HUGE difference. I can only imagine that having the adjustability would be nice, + you get the upgraded ballast automatically. Although CHP is a great help with ballast upgrades, it is still time consuming.

Underwater lights - I personally don't see the need. I am actually curious as to how many people actually use it. As mentioned, easy to add later and it seems to be the general feel that they don not "shed as much light" with the AVX.

Does Tige still offer the Posiden/Deckadence flooring option? If so, I would highly consider it. This stuff is GREAT. We had it in our Z1 and we are working with Deckadence and our dealer to add it to our G23, even though we already have SeaDek. It is just nice and soft and comfortable underfoot.

Heater - unless you are in a really warm climate, this really is a must have. I find that the ladies tend to be more sensitive to cooler conditions and I have to say, the heater is used on almost every trip out. People like to wrap up in a towel and have the warm air heat them up.

I feel that the cost for the gel option was not worth it, but this is personal preference. Seems like a lot of money for appearance that does not benefit the function or comfort of the boat. I don't believe it will really add to the resale cost, but may make it sell quicker to the right buyer.

Keep in mind, this is all simply opinion.

In 15 years of boating I have never wanted underwater lights. The z cline chair is awesome and I wish I had - In Florida we don't need heaters so I don't know, Deckedanece if you can get it, mid ship cleats, Two speakers are plenty and go with avx and ballast otherwise you will wish you had. Even if you don't surf now someday you will or next buyer will.

Tower of power with 2 pairs of speakers - I would agree one pair should be fine.
pro surf ballast option - yes
Underwater lighting x 2 - I'm a fan but is an easy add in future as to which you could get even better lighting.
                  Z-cline seat - yes
                  Heater- It's BC man....hell yes.

Oh, and I can help you with a deckadence mat in the future as well. I know a local rep.

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback!

We are looking at the 2015 Tige Z3. We mainly surf with a bit of wakeboarding!

I do a ton of night surfing and thought the underwater lights would be a nice touch. Thats sad the lights aren't as bright because of the AVX. You would think they would try to reposition them or something...

Thanks for forwarding that link for the suggestions too!

You make a valid point about the gelcoat trim package being a waste of almost $5000

                    Keep the opinions coming lol

My opinion, leave off the factory lights and add your own. I would investigate doing them mounted to the edge of the AVX in a similar fashion to hos they are mounted to the trim tab on larger boats.

Good Idea Mike. It is a $1000 option from the factory!...Ridiculous!

The old post was mine, my boat should be moving along in production by now.

I did add all of the items I was considering. the cost for optional paint colors including special tower and platform colors looked to be excessively expensive and a total waste in my opinion.

All options seem like "musts" to me, except the extra pair of tower speakers. Heater is a blessing!!
