SO how much better is the VX wave vs Non VX wave in the 20 footer? Im asking cuz my dealer has a boat i can get now without it...or i can wait until mid june and order one with. They had offered to switch a vx off another boat to this one, but said they would have to drill new holes in transom and then re glass old ones....to me it looks like the VX is attached to the swim platform...not the boat. Thoughts??

I just picked up my z3 that has the Avx and my friend just bought a R 20 without a Vx. I missed the test ride but the salesman who just got an RzR himself with the avx said that he was shocked at how good the R20 was without it, it has the larger ballast option though.

If I can get my kid to surf behind the R20 this weekend I will report how he thinks it compares to our Z3

Depends on what boat. On a RZR its just a matter of swapping it over. R20 has different brackets and they would have to do what you are talking about.

Are the new platforms filled in and smooth underneath? I forgot to look when i was at the dealer today. On an R20...is it necessary to have the VX to get a nice smooth wave?

they should be smooth all the ones ive seen are but with the vx its also a different platform than the standard one that comes on the boat. also both platforms are smooth

The VX will definitely elongate the wave and open the pocket of the R20 and RZR. It will also give you a greater range of taps to use. The goofy side on a non VX boat (even with a flap) gets washy with taps above 2 imho. I think push/power is the same when considering the additional weight needed with the VX, it is 2 extra feet of running surface after all. There was a thread on here awhile back talking about the VX and it was said that the factory would no longer sell retrofit VX's and only new AVX and VX would be on boats. So.... who knows.

hello , I have a question about the vx , I just got a new 2015 tige r20 without the vx on the boat. I was thinking about adding it on now after ive been surfing behind the boat for two months now , I am a goofy rider and i would like to make the wave bigger/londer , I am still learning the new boat. so looking for the pros and cons of adding this on . also looking to see about getting a little more push out of my wave, read about people adding a little more weight to there boat. just a little insite about my water trips surfing , most of the time i take three small people and myself , so i will be surfing and the people in the boat come to around 350 to 400lb all together . Any ideas/help would great and much appreciated. thank you.

I think you will find that the VX is not available thru parts. You either order the boat with it or your without. Unless maybe you can talk the dealer into ordering a boat with one and swapping. But like discussed above it would require different brackets and a lot of glass work. I would think it would be very cost prohibitive. Gonna cost you probably double what it would have at time of order.

thank you for the info , any idea or suggestions on adding a little weight to my boat , the wave doesn't seem to have that much push when surfing goofy , and as I said in my last post the weight of the people I am taking with doesn't amount to much. thank you again .

W005 sacs do the trick in our RZR. Bow sacks full surf side stern full and non surf side about 25% full. Wake seems to blow out with taps any more than 2 @11mph. We also put a fat brick on both sides of bow if its just the momma, kiddo, and myself. We have the convex vx also.

^^X2 Fly High W005's will work great in your R20. Surf ballast isn't enough if you have a light crew.

Personally I never used counter ballast in mine. I didn't like what it did to the wave. I filled both sides front then usually about 1000 lbs in the back surf side.

My wake is setup exactly like boardman's. 400 front 1000 surf side back. No VX.

How far do the w004 or w005 bags stick into the under seat storage on the r20 or rzr??

W004 comes to where the side locker opening begins. When full they don't extend into side lockers. W005 are approx 2 feet longer and extend all the way into starboard locker and about halfway into port. When filled it takes up all of starboard side locker and half of port side locker.

Thanks! Thats exactly what i needed to know! I will order my r20 without the factory bags (plumbed though) and get the w0004 in place of those to run the VX.
