New Tige owner, couple of questions

This is my first post, so just wanted to say it's good to find a forum with other Tige owners. I just bought a 2001 21V LTD from a friend of mine. The boat is in really good condition and was always well taken care of. I'm having a problem with the steering. It's extremely hard to turn, and I've checked the steering cable that several people mentioned in other threads and it seems to be okay. Is there anything else that could be causing this problem? Also, it has a teak platform and i was trying to get it off, so I could put some oil on the bottom. Does anyone know an easy way to get it off? I'm assuming you raise it up and then flip the back of the platform towards the boat, but I can't seem to get all three of the pins to slide up. Thanks in advance guys

I have the same, its in the shop right now with gas gage problems. Seems everyone else has the same problem. Love the boat after having it three yrs now. I have to redo the platform also when it gets back from the shop. I haven't tried to get it off yet so let me know how it goes. You will love the boat, we are out all year round here no other problems. Good luck

I used to have a 2002 of the same boat. sometimes you need to bang on the platform brackets with a rubber mallet, I think you'll be able to see where. I found that one side would drop back in once I lifted the other side up, so it is a lot easier to have two people do it.

You could unhook the cable from the rudder and give it a turn and if it is still stiff, it is your cable.

When was the last time the cable was replaced? I had on 01 23V and had to replace the cable in 03. If the cable is exposed to water a lot it will diminish the longevity of it.

Also on the teak platform, I think i remember lifting the platform straight up and then letting it fall forward. It is a lot easier to do with two people.

I got it from Jason White. I was with him when he got it new and he just got a new Air Natique, so I bought the Tige. I've been with him just about everytime the boat has gone out, so I know how well it has been taken care of. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm going to have a full day tomorrow.
