Yes, as odd as it sounds that single cable which is disguised as a USB also has an analog output in it. This thread gives all the details and the parts. I use mine almost like a rear view mirror.

As for the adhesive failing I wouldn't be surprised in cold weather. All I can say is mine would take a golf club to take it off. The mount is the sturdiest part of the whole contraption.

thanks for the advice and input. now just need to decide between the 3silver and 4silver. $100 isn't a ton of cash for newer tech, but not sure if it's really needed.

we use the suction cup on ours with the float backdoor in case it were to fall off, but have never had any issues. You do however have to beware of the rope when surfing so it doesn't catch it as it will knock it loose. Other than that the suction cup holds extremely tight.

We have the 3 silver and love the ability to use our iPhones to watch the streaming video live. I set my phone on the dash and use it as a rearview camera. I need to buy the cables and hook it up to the TT at some point. Use amazon for all your accessories and buy the dual battery charger and some cheap batteries on amazon as they don't last long unless you plan on hooking up to a power source.

Have a silver 3+. The WiFi connectivity with our iPhones is great.

Love the suction cup mount - works on the boat (port/stern for surfing) and the surfboard. It's incredibly strong.

Floaty backdoor is a must. Works well and actually floats the suction cup on mine, but I have an extra key chain floaty attached just in case.

Extra batteries with 12v chargers have been huge for long days on the water. Got cheap ones on Amazon and they work just fine.

Have the handlebar mount and use it on a lot of things, especially varying lengths of PVC pipe we bought and cut down to 2', 3', and 5' lengths. Can get some cool perspective shots from the boat of your rider. Need to figure out how to float the smaller PVC pipe so riders can hold the camera from behind and get the boat in the background.

Have the headstrap, but don't use it much.

Added some permanent mounts to waverunners to get some funny videos of the younger ones riding.

Borrowed a friends dog mount for a duck hunt and that was awesome. Great videos of a lab retrieving dead birds.

Have found that getting some Phillips head bolts and a small driver to replace the handcranked bolts used to change mounts is easier.

                Couple thoughts-
1: Simply glue caps onto the PVC pipe, the trapped air should be buoyant.
2: Fill the PVC with Great Stuff or similar expanding foam. Then cut the ends smooth, clean the end of the PVC Pipe and Glue PVC Caps on the end.

You beat me to it dandy!

I never thought of the handlebar mount. That is clever. I just bought that articulating clamp.

Hooking in to Tigé touch means I never have a dead battery. A nice side bonus.

Of note I did soak my camera once and it survived.
