    Buying a 2012 Tige Z3 - Last second opinions

    Guys,

I have always read and trusted opinions on this website. Before I make the plunge and buy this boat, I figured I would post it and get any last second thoughts on it in case someone knows something I do not. Here are some photos. The boat is listed under NADA low retail and it has ConvexVX, Poseiden Mat, Pro-ballast, and pretty much every option I would want. 2012 with about 246 hours. Any thoughts on it?

Not many 2012's with the VX, pretty rare. 343 can struggle if you really load it down for wake boarding. They are fine for surfing.

Agreed. If you can work a prop into the deal it would be a good idea. 1433 works well and still gives you decent cruising speed.

I like the color combo - red, black, and white are easy to sale.

PS, the engine cover is missing one of the nuts....see bottom left

I have a 2012 Z3 with the VX and 409. Absolutley love the boat ! My only thing would be to make sure it has the updated VX brackets.

          Good luck and enjoy !!

I think you will find that dealership good to work with, I bought my current boat from them. I surfed a '13 with the same setup as that particular boat except it had the Wake9 bags. The boat and motor did just fine and did not struggle at all with the wieght, but I believe it had 1235 prop. Like someone else said, if it has the 537 on it now, you might work a new prop into the deal depending on your local conditions.

Is the prop concern only related to wakeboarding when loaded down? We likely will not wakeboard very often.

A prop upgrade will help with hole shot on a heavily loaded boat. With a heavily loaded surf boat, cavitation/prop slip and speed holding are the biggest issues. So no, prop upgrades are not just for wake boarding.

So is the 1235 what I need? How much do you think it's worth? Thanks for the help

I found it, about $550 looks like. Thanks for the advice, let me know if you think 1235 isn't the right one.

Your boat needs the 1.48:1 gear ratio to start with and I would measure the hull clearance. IIRC, the 14.5" props didnt fit those older v-drive hulls well.

I bought my current boat from that dealer also and have been purchasing from Joe for 7 years or so and have always had good luck with him. He has lower prices on his boats than most dealers because he sells more of them and makes up for it that way. His mechanic barry is top notch also. I would not hesitate to purchase anything from them as they will take care of you after the sale if anything were to arise. Joe knows most of the boats that he takes in on trade and has sold and serviced most of them. Hope this helps

As far as the boat it is an excellent model with plenty of power to do whatever sport your heart desires. Might need a 1235 prop like stated above but that's minimal. Any other accessories you will need you can order from joe and I can guarantee he will be cheaper than most places. BTW I like the color scheme. Go for it!!

The 1235 should fit perfectly on a Z3. The 1433 is the same prop with a smaller diameter, but that is usually only needed on the older boats. The clearance will need looked at between the prop & the trailer as well.

yeah, disregard this post, i was looking at your current boat, the 23V, and not thinking about the Z3 you are looking at.

Yes, the 1235 is a good prop for that Z3/343 engine combo. But, its not the only good option by any means.

Got it, thanks for the input. I'll definitely talk to him about the prop and see if we can work something out. Other than that, I think the boat should be pretty sweet.
