Check my math... Battery Wiring Diagram

Can somewhere here double check my battery wiring diagram.

Sorry, trying to compress the picture the writing inside becam unlegible. Inside the batteries the writing says 6V 195Amps.

    I don see it working!
You are mixing series and parallel together.

for series add the volts and amps stay the same.
for Parallel add the amps and volt stay the same.

I would use 6 batteries, and keep it more simple.

    + - + - + - = 585 amps and 6 volts
    - + - + - + = 585 amps and 6 volts
Tie the one end and use the other for your output.
this will give you your 585 amps and 12vdc

What are you trying to do?

          Whitlock,

You actually can mix series and parallel together to get to your desired voltage and amperage.

But I do have no problem w/ using six. It's just when I was trying to figure out the wiring on a 6 bank system it wasn't working using series and parallel connections. If you run just one of each, you either ended up with (using the diagram) 1170 amps or 36V. If you tried mixing series and parallel there was no way to get down to 12 volts, it was only 18. Unless I was totally missing something. As to your suggestion, sorry you lost me a bit. As far as I know, you can't tie the ends together w/ a series connection once they have been paralleled, you'll get a major ARC. Of course, this isn't my best field so I could be way off, so please do teach

As to where I'm from.... OK... and I know the two others from my area already.

I caught a mistake in my diagram though, it was late when I was putting that together and I listed the 195 as Amps... actually the 195 is the capacity @ a 75amp draw. Since I'm focusing on the reserve capacity that's what I'm using here instead of my actual amperage.

          Lee,

I'm building a battery bank that is dedicated to my stereo. I'm pulling way to many amps and am gonna kill my alternator and batteries. I'm trying to build up enough reserve capacity at 12 volts to play for 7 hours at least 100amps. Using the RMS ratings of my amps I am theoretically pulling 190amps. Being safe I'm guessing I'm really pulling less than half of that, I still bumped it up to 100amps to be safe.

On a side note I've now changed to a battery that has 225 mins of reserve capacity @ 75amps. As I'm getting a good deal from the Trojan sales rep for my area

            They sell batteries?

              LOL,

I knew someone was going to say something about that. But yes... they are one of the leading Deep Cycle manufacturers.

                Deep cycle???

I haven't heard it called deep cycling before...but yes, I suppose it could be!!!

Another thread going to "trojans" and "deep cycles". Looks like we are all having trouble concentrating on work during the week!!!

So, it is not the size of your battery, but how many amps you can pull.....?

You also need to worry about your discharge rate, recycle time, and yes, cold cranking ability. It can get messy out there.

Nope... no cold cranking ability needed.... these won't be cranking jack . They are dedicated purely to my stereo and in no way connected to the rest of my electrical system or motor.

Uh, maybe I was trying to be too subtle. The references were to something other the electrical draw (if you know what I mean)!
