    Ski PAC

I am in the process of buying a new Z1 and the dealer is offering a type of extended warranty called the Ski Pac. I wanted to see if anyone has heard of this or have any information on its usefulness/value?

Considering you get the full 3 year bow to stern and the 3 years service what are they offering on top? I'm curious the cost?

I searched online and find nothing at all for "Ski Pac boat warranty" that in itself makes me wonder. Considering how quick stuff spreads across the inter webs and there is nothing about this warranty…at all!!

I'm pretty sure the Indmar powerplants come standard with a 5 year warranty now + Tige's warranty on the boat. Gotta wonder what it offers beyond that and if its worth the $$$

Ok, so i got the details on the warranty. Its actually from a company called FPC and the Ski Pac is the ski boat package. It adds 2 years to the Tige 3 yr warranty and covers the following: Tower, Taps/Ballast setup, cruise control, instrument panel, stereo/speakers, and trailer. They want $1k for it, so i'm leaning toward not doing it, but i just don't know what to expect with all the electronics on this boat.

So its a 5 year plan that extends 2 years past the factory warranty? Cause ive never see one that becomes active when factory runs out. Cant count the number of extended warranties sold on new cars that run out at about the same time the factory warranty did. 2 years later, the owner has a problem and thinks they have a policy. They blow a gasket, pardon the pun, when they find out it was active at time of purchase, and NOT when the factory expired.

I got offered something like that from the finance company when I purchased my boat, but didn't pursue it. I'd read the fine print if you are planning on spending the $$.

As 007 mentioned, read the fine print. I do have to say, that if they do cover all mentioned above plus some without too many exemption details it may be worth it. Also verify if it covers labor as a lot of time the labor would be equal to or greater than the cost of the parts. Some of these things can be good some not so good. If it provides some peace of mind for 2 additional years, it may be worth it just for that. Keep in mind that this is coming from a guy that had the dealer service, winterize, store and perform a spring runout on his boats. For me the peace of mind on things is worth paying for extra service knowing that we have a short season to start with and minimizing any down time or concerns is worth something. Always remember..."The devil is in the details" so read the fine print.

Also keep in mind the Tige touch is covered for 5 years and I assume that means the electronics associated with it. So that wipes out some of the coverage. Pretty narrow coverage when 6 items(I realize there's more in the systems) sums up the warranty. Normally its pages and then pages of whats not.

Extended warranties (*home warranties are even worse) are about the worst thing in the world to spend your money on. Just take that $1000 and put it in a mainentance fund. Over the years I have had a few of these included with purchases and found them to be useless when needed. They always weasel out....always.
