makes a person wonder why the factory doesn't offer a sub in the area below the trash can on the Z3 along with the under helm sub? The ASR comes with it so why not the z3? It sure would save us the mess of doing it later on! I know with the 2 pair of rev10 on my Z3 the single under helm sub is nowhere near enough to balance the treble out. I always add more subs anyway but would be nice to not have to do the day you bring them home.

Nick- why the 440 raptor when the 400 has more than enough power with the 2419 prop or are you propping different? Who is building your sub boxes and I see there are extras is this something you guys would consider selling to customers just the boxes that is?

First and foremost, cost. 2nd, I would imagine it has been advised against dual sub location, especially when firing different directions. It creates phase alignment issues, which can actually reduce the perception of bass, as compared to just one sub.

Cost? heck your already at 100k what's another $200 for a sub As far as sound then perhaps redesign the layout to allow for more bass in these boats in the correct area. I'm sure Tim with wetsounds would volunteer to do it and wouldn't have an issue selling more equipment or even let CHPTHRIL go nuts in one. I do love the sound the rev10s have over the rev8 allowing it to handle more mid bass that is so this is one step in the right direction for sure. Seems like we have gone overkill on the treble and way underkill on the hard hitting bass most of us like. But then again we wouldn't have winter projects if it came perfect!

I completely understand. Its more than just a $200 woofer. Theres extra labor involved in doing that 2nd woofer. There would need to be some additional work to the spot, in order to support the woofer. A thin wall is not enough to support a woofer, so glassing in a composite board would need to be part of the deck cap built process.

Rather then 2 woofers, I would rather see the expense and effort go into a single 12" under the helm, in a sealed enclosure, bridged on the Syn-6 to milk all its available 600W rms.

What happened to the box I sent you gwhite? I hope it didn't break already. It looked very similar to those in the pictures.

I was going to say the same thing. A single 12 inch sub can really pound when boxed and powered properly. I have 2 pair of Rev 10's, and never felt out of balance. I often have people ask me where the second subwoofer is at, and although I believe that the Kicker Comp VR sub I have is really good, I am under the impression that it is not considered top of the line like a JL W7 or other option. I could not beleive how much better it sounded when I made my own sub box. For a sub, the box is a huge part of the sound. CHP learned me that much.
                Be excellent to one another.

Agreed. Adding a 12' enclosed sub made a massive difference over the stock 10" free air sub. Plenty of bass to go with my one pair of Rev10s (for my family).

post some pics of the install if you have them. I'm on the fence of where I want to go with my stereo in my z3. Would love to put one under the helm and perhaps 2 in a ported box under the port midship locker firing out through vents but am limited on height in the locker due to the glove box being so large!

Chris, when you get spare time build a few of those boxes and ship em up here to Kansas! haha

                          Hay fellas,

Instead of making the boat fit the box, make a box to fit the boat. As cool as it is, there is nothing magical about that dual port enclosure. A single port would have smaller dimensions, thus taking up less space in the boat.

This boat is still a work in progress!

As of now I have all the amps mounted, the port side sup box mounted and the WS 420 Mounted in the dash. Here are some pictures, ENJOY!!

Hopefully we will have sound by this afternoon.
