Heaters.... and how boatwakes bailed me out again

Quick shout out and word of warning for those installing a heater on a closed cooled PCM 6L motor before they came with the "t" installed already (it appears the new motors come with the hookup hardware for a heater).

We had a trip planned to Havasu this weekend and of course I finally got around to installing the heater.

In typical of most any DIY project I try, it ran into a snag.

    1) First hose coming from the circulation pump to heat exchanger, I was careful and verified I had the correct 1.25"x1.25"x5/8" "T". Install went easy.

    2) The second hose coming from the heat exchanger, I violated the cardinal rule..... I cut before I measured. Sure enough, its a 1.5" hose returning to the circ pump.

    3) Called up Boatwakes (TO owner who has bailed me out more than once) to help me verify/source the correct fitting etc. I thought I found it on amazon..... it wasn't.

    4) Boatwakes called up his supplier and had one custom fabbed (1.5"x1.5"x5/8") and ready to pick up in less than 24 hours locally (at a very favorable price)

Wife is stoked! We will have a heater for a trip

I owe Boatwakes way too many beers at this point.

      A custom-fabbed hose T? Wow, that's impressive.

      Another incredible job by BoatWakes.

Here is a pic waiting for the sun to rise on Sunday. We had 68-70 degree water Temps and air Temps in the 80s most of the day. Couldn't believe it was November.

We only used the heater early Sunday but it worked well with the bakes heater blanket.

I will see if I can dig up some more pics later. My cousin who ocean body boards a lot, did it behind the boat. It worked out better than expected. He wore his fins and if he fell back he could kick back in. I will see if he minds me posting pics of him.
