Well I got my Wally Plugs to work. Flyhigh suggested heating the plugs with a hair dryer to soften them up and then thread them in.

It didn't work.

I instead heated the fitting with the hair dryer. With some force they would thread in. The fitting would just expand enough to allow the plug to thread.

The good news is that they won't leak.

The bad news is that a hair dryer is needed to insert the plugs! (and successive trials still require the heat)

I'm not thrilled but it will work.

Looks to be air tight! (and about 8' long)



Next question now....
The these wake9 bags have 8 fittings. I have 4 wally plugs plus a vent, a fill and a drain. What is the 8th fitting for?

Cross fill inlet/outlet? (for switching sides).

If your boat is an early 2013, you will have 4 factory hoses that connect to the sac. If its a late 2013, there may be a 5th hose thats a secondary vent. The remaining 4 or 3 threaded ports get capped with the W731 plugs. I do not suggest using the W730 pump quick-conn for this, unless you intend to use it with the W709 pump kit.

You are correct sir. (like that's a surprise...)

I was hasty in my initial analysis. There are two ports on the bottom. Do they both go to the lower hard tank?

For connections I have W741's and W746 quick connects. I also plan to cross drain and vent. Just need some more hose, clamps, and some massive heat shrink. It'll be tight but I should be able to get it done in 5 months.

Yes, both bottom ports are gravity drains from the sac to the hard tank.

Sounds like your is a later 2013 with 1" hose and your factory sacs had the welded in barbed fittings.

Rather than reusing the stainless steel worm gear clamps with the sharp tails that need to be covered with large OD heat shrink, I use nylon snap clamps for the fittings near the sacs. No worries on them cutting fingers or cutting sacs. All other connections, the worm gear clamps are fine and heat shrink is not needed, but a nice touch if you have it.

When you say 1", do you mean 1 1/8"? I've been assuming they are the 1 1/8" ID hoses.

It could be 1.125" but its a clear step up from the .75 used previously. I know for sure, Tige is using 1.125" now, but I thought they used 1" in the transition to the current 1.125. Neither here nor there i guess. 1" can be massaged over a 1.125" fitting if needed and any reduction in flow is negligible. Knowing the OD, you can figure the ID, or if you have a hose off, just measure the ID.

Ok thanks. My mind conjured up all kinds of interesting ideas on what this magical fitting might look like!. Duhhh....

They are definitely at least 1". There is a place in town that sells 1 1/8" but I'll have to hunt a bit for those clamps. Thanks as always.

Big fan of those clips Chpthrl posted. When I bought my bags and ballast gear from him he included those near all the bags. I wouldn't be afraid of using them everywhere. They actually seem to make a better (less likely to leak) seal than the worm gears.

JMo - your boat would have had 1" tubing and fittings. I am basing this on the fact that your Z1 and mine shared similar build/delivery dates and issues. I have been meaning to post pics of my ballast upgrade - if you have questions, PM me or shoot me an email and I can send you pics. I dream of finding the time to get a write up done for everyone. If you can find 1.125" hose use it, it will be much easier. I worked with Chpthril and he was great, even guided me through adding a port to my Wake9 Sacs for the XLink pump. I wanted to stick with the black hose to keep a factory look and that stuff (1") really had to be heated up to get on the 1.125" fittings. I believe Wakemakers does have the 1.125" black available. Also, if you haven't seen them, check out clamps like the ones in the link below. No sharp edges...very slick. I also found some HUGE shrink wrap through and electrical supplier we use (Del City)

Thanks dandy, and i also have the 1.125" hose.

One reason we used the 1" on Dandy's upgrades, was simply because of the reversible impeller pump. It has 1" OD hose bard outlets that are .5" IPT. To make a concoction of fitting that threaded into the .5" that would accommodate the 1.125" hose, would be expensive for the fittings and absolutely kill, what little flow advantage there is between the 1.125" hose over 1". We can easily warm the 1" hose an persuade it to slide over the larger fittings, but in no way are you going to get the 1.125" hose to clamp down on that pumps 1" barb. Any flow difference between those two hose sizes, is going to be measured in seconds any way.

I do like those pinch clamps, but not ever DIY'r has the pliers or wants to purchase them for one project. Ive thought about a loaner program, but for the borrower to ship them back or on to the next borrower, would cost close to their actual purchase price. So, no real advantage.
