We just got back on Sat. My second trip in 3 weeks. We stayed near Gunsight in Padre Bay this time, and Face Canyon the last trip. Great time, and weather. We had to get out before the July 4th crowd completely took over.

      Team Allen,

I was there in September and Warm creek looked beautiful when we pulled in so we stopped there. Then it seemed that everyone and their dogs showed up. The weather was spectacular, but the water was busy with a lot of rollers. Maybe I'll have to try again.

There have been a lot of flash floods lately and I bet that Navajo canyon got one and washed all of that debris into the water.
      Be excellent to one another.

Here is a picture of the sunken Malibu. It is something, none of us like to see.

Yeah, they were towing it behind their houseboat. When you drive through the narrows it is like a washing machine. Wakes coming at you from all directions. It is a combination of the lower nose on the direct drives, center of gravity being dead center and the bow being tethered to the stern of the houseboat. One or two waves over the bow and down it goes.

I guess the absolute rule should be drive your boat through any rough water. DO NOT TOW it with your houseboat.

Just got back from Powell Monday night. Had an awesome time! The water in the San Juan was great and by Friday night I was wiped out! We spent a couple of 8 - 12 hour days in our Tige' and wouldn't trade it.

              Top Heavy,
We usually go to Bonny Lake in CO or Enders in Nebraska. My brother-in-law lives on Gaynor lake by Longmont, so we spend some time there also.

                Just got back today myself.

                Was awesome as usual.

                Stayed at Labyrinth 2 days

And Rock Creek Main channel near the end for 4 days.

NEVER tow you boat through the Maytag Straights.

Were you towing your boat up 95 through Havasu on 6/26. If so you did not wave back!! If it was not you oh well.

Glad your trip was fun. Still trying to get to Powell 1st week of August but work is not cooperating yet.

We took a trip down Navajo Creek and there was some serious debris in the water. Stick and logs. It was not worth the trip.

That tour boat throws a horrific wake! Watch out for it at all costs! You will need all of your best driving skills to defeat it!

We saw two sunken boats in the narrows. One Malibu Direct Drive and one unidentified boat. That is one gnarly place! This entire length of water has the vertical wall echo chamber of doom.

We spoke to the owner of the bu and he was towing it behind his houseboat when it sank. See this thread. Sunken i Series
Agreed I always launch from Antelope for this reason.

Waves and rollers come form EVERY direction in the narrows.

The tour boats will never comply with AZ or UT laws and do not slow down.

Given they are USCG captains, you 'd think they could loose their licenses.

I stayed in Labyrinth and then Rock Creek main channel.

We shall have to meet at Cha Bones sometime.

I stay at the Hampton several times a month.

I will go next week during mid week.

I need to service my Seadoo too 2004 Sea-Doo GTX 4-TEC

What's a good place for seadoo maintenance?

                          Parker or Havi?

We will be going out to Powell on 7/20 for a week. This will be our 25th consecutive year on houseboats. My parents (Dad-91, Mom 89) invite all of the kids, grandkids, etc. to come. This year we will have approximately 56 people, three houseboats, four ski boats, five Sea Doo's. We do everything from Tubing (not my favorite) to Slalom. It is like Christmas for the family. We go to Warm Creek, with the Castle Rock cut-off dry, it is now secluded enough, so don't tell anyone. If you are planning on renting a houseboat at Lake Powell, I would suggest renting from Steve Carothers at Antelpe Point rather than from Aramark/Wahweap boat rentals. Steve used to work at Wahweap/State Line and took really good care of us, now Karen Ambrosius is in charge there and she isn't nearly as customer friendly as Steve was, if fact, she is sometimes pretty mean. Steve still offers the best in customer service.

                                We love Lake Powell.
