    Lake Powell 2006

Who is headed to Lake Powell this summer? We will be there 6/25/06/ - 6/31/06. We are staying in a hotel in Page AZ. Should be a great time. The weather looks good and the water keeps rising everyday. It looks like the Castle Rock cut-off will be opening soon.

    When will you be there?

We will get there late afternoon 6-24 and leave 7-2. We will leave from Bullfrog and head to the San Juan with the houseobat, our 20i, a 4 winns, a jet ski, 20 people, and 750 beers.

    I can't wait!

We just got back last Saturday from a week on the lake. We had great weather and better water. There has been a fire on Navajo Mountain which created a haze over the lake before some wind blew it out. Gas is $4.30 at Dangling Rope and $4.10 at Antelope Marina. The short-cut by Castle Rock was not open yet. The water level is still rising, but more slowly. There also didn't seem to be as much traffic or as many boats on the lake. It is still the best place on the earth for boating.

We will be down on July 25 to 31 for the second anual Tige, Malibu Mastercraft challenge. It's only been a challenge since last year when I bought the Tige and another friend bought the mastercraft X-30. The group is going on twelve years. Awesome lake, awesome friends and great times for all. This years boats will be the Tige 24V, Malibu XLV and Mastercraft X-30. The guy with the X-45 from last year must have found a better offer and is not coming. It was great having a week with all water conditions for comparing. All great boats. I posted reviews after last years trip. We usually head down Escalante Canyon, but with gas at $4.30 who knows where we'll end up. We will be heading out of Bull Frog. Looks like we will be headed back in early October, dates unkown for now. July is too HOT but that is when the whole group can get there so that is when it happens. If you see us, don't be afraid to flag us down. It's always good to chat with fellow Tige' owners. I have a yellow/black smiley boat, the mastercraft is the orange and black Jack o Lantern and the conservative guy is the one with the Black and grey tuxedo Malibu.

We intend to visit the awesome Lake Powell once again this summer sometime in mid July,,we should be narrowing down the dates in the next few days. We have always stayed in Page and launched from Waiweep (sp?). The furthest north we have gone is Rainbow Bridge. Is it worth launching out of one of the northern points above Rainbow?

            I'll hit Powell 6/26 thru 7/3.

I rent a 59 foot House Boat and will meet my wife and the Tige 24ve as she launches from Antelope Pt.

I don’t care to have a 24Ve in the Maytag straits any longer then neccy, so I have her and my son launch at Antelope.

If you need info on Powell conditions etc, see Waynewords.com and the Bulletin Board section.

I'm kind of glad the Castle Rock cut-off won't make it. Last year, Original Wing Nut (OWN) and I spent every day in Warm Creek. The water was great and nobody there. Just our two Tige's and his friends wave making machine.

The weather looks like it will cooperate.

How far up river do you plan on taking your houseboat?

We are headed there 8-19 to 8-27. We rented the 59' house boat and are putting in at bullfrog. We will have our 21V and about 4 skis, and 1 16' fishing boat named miami vice. And of course plenty of beer.

With gas prices the way they are I am quite sure that we will not be heading to far up the canyon.

I have been to powell before but never with my own boat. What is this canyon cutoff you all speak of, and where is the best spot to head for good water or a camping spot?

                    top Heavy,

Castle rock cut-off is clear down by the dam. That would be a looooong journey from Bullfrog!

If by good water you mean less people, get farther away from the marinas.

Where do you go around Loveland?

                      Teachercop,

It is not worth it to go any further than Page if you are coming from California. It would be a good 5 hours longer drive, and IMHO the better part of the lake is down by the dam.

I'll be going too, but I don't know when. You'll hear me with NVS Addictions roaring (only when it is respectful, of course).
                      Be excellent to one another.

No further than Oak Creek Cnyn probably.

I have the Tige and jet ski to explore with.

First nite in on Monday 26th I am at the Marriot in Page. I have a yellow and balck 24ve and a grey 2006 F-150. Wife is in a Sandstone 2006 F-150 puling a matching Yellow and Balck Seado.

May be we will see each other!

                          Thanks for the info......

We spend the weeknights at Boyd and the weekends either at Glendo or horsetooth. Whatever works for the weekend. Glendo is always a great time and mondays there are awsome for good water.

                          What about you?

We made it back after having a fantastic time! Warm Creek was still the answer for us. Smooth water all day long. We missed the Original Wing Nut this Year. The cove wasn't the same without him.

We took a trip down Navajo Creek and there was some serious debris in the water. Stick and logs. It was not worth the trip.

That tour boat throws a horrific wake! Watch out for it at all costs! You will need all of your best driving skills to defeat it!

We saw two sunken boats in the narrows. One Malibu Direct Drive and one unidentified boat. That is one gnarly place! This entire length of water has the vertical wall echo chamber of doom.

We spoke to the owner of the bu and he was towing it behind his houseboat when it sank. See this thread. Sunken i Series

We missed being there. It is great to hang with other Tige' Owners. Glad you had a great tirp. Maybe next time.
